Tribe v. Blue Jays Thread

    Damn it

Smoked that ball, just right at someone.
  • like_that
    Why fucking swing at that?
  • IggyPride00
They need to consider bringing Tony Plush back if Bourn is going to continue to be worthless. I don't care what he is making, he is killing the ball club with his very presence. It is deflating to have that kind of guy around.

We can point blame all around, but the bottom line is Gomes is catching because he is supposed to be a good defensive player. He is KILLING the Tribe behind the plate. About 5 errors already. Unacceptable.

Probably the only fast ball he was going to get because every other pitch Santos threw was an off speed pitch. I am ok with him swinging.
  • Laley23
Yeah, no problem with the swing. A couple feet in either direction and it's a GW hit.

12 men LOB...that says it all. Lack of situational hitting by several people....none bigger than Bourn's inability to get a bunt down with the game on the line. I'm not going to blame Brantley who put a very good swing on the ball to end the game. I suppose you could argue that he could have taken a strike at 1-0, but he didn't swing at something he couldn't hit.

Did anyone else want a pinch runner for Chiz in the ninth? The guy was carrying the mail!.... Isn't Aviles faster....( and of course Morgan is in Columbus). None of which made any difference because Bourn struck out.

Not killing the tribe. He probably leads the league in throwing out base stealers.

He's first among catchers in defensive runs saved. One of only 3 catchers above average in stolen base runs saved and tied for 2nd among catchers in defensive rating.

You might be upset with him but the one thing he's NOT doing is killing us, especially considering his place among catchers defensively.

    Big weekend for the Tribe.

Tomorrow we face Buehrle who is off to a hot start at 3-0 with a sub 1 ERA right now.

Sunday we have Carrasco on the bump who has been nothing short of a dumpster fire this season and is also responsible for Harrang looking like Cy freaking Young this season for another team other than ours. He needs to get his shit together and fast.

We need to split these two at worst, because we have a tough stretch coming up with the Royals coming to town and then off to the west coast again for the Giants/Angels.

Thankfully it looks like the Tigers aren't going to run away and hide this season, but this Indians team is not equipped I don't think to be playing from behind and getting in a hole early record wise.

Thats all well and good, but he is 1st in the league in errors with 5. I'm certain those stats aren't taking into consideration when the ball is in play or when he is throwing it into CF. Don't care what anyone says, if our catcher ends up with 30 errors, he can't be our catcher. He is on pace for way more then that.

When you are aggressive, sometimes bad things happen. There is no measurement of how much he saved by intimidation alone by virtue of the strength of his arm and his ability to use it. The key with anything like this is picking the spots and taking appropriate risks. I've no issue with him so far. I'm a little more concerned with his bat. He had a key at bat last nite with a runner on third and one out where he popped out swinging at a bad pitch early in the count. When you lose by one run, 'errors' like that are often the turning points.

Besides Carrasco killing us, it's been Bourn who has been even worse. Most of his at bats were critical last night and got nothing out of them. Masterson had his best outing last night and has nothing to show for it. If this keeps up with Bourn then you have to consider playing Raburn more.

Your certainty is misplaced because you're wrong. Errors play into defensive rating, where Yan is tied for 2nd among catchers.

Sorry man, the stats don't back up your narrative. It happens.

Was at the game last night and wow that place is dead. Brantley's ball was smoked! Just happened to be right at someone
  • HitsRus
^^I was a t the game last nite too, and I thought it was an okay crowd for this time of year. If people were 'quiet' it was because the Tribe couldn't get a key hit.

For sure. If we had Morgan in there I think we win at least one...maybe two games. It's hard yto keep rallies going when you ahve dead spots in the order....the other dead spot has been Santana who prior to last nite's 2 run HR, had only 1 RBI in 13 games.
  • Tigerfan00
    Already down 2-0
  • HitsRus
Bourn not starting today. Druby leading off.
  • Tigerfan00
2 on with 1 out and Santana not to be outdone hits an inning ending double play.
  • IggyPride00
    wow that place is dead
Saw it mentioned elsewhere but there is some truth to it.

    This team is boring.

We have no real exciting players. Our "core" guys are all serviceable competent MLB players, but no one you really want to pay to see.

I can't put my finger on it, but there is just no personality on this team and they aren't compelling to watch.

Thank God we have Tito, because this team would be trash without him I suspect. He gets everything he possibly can out of this group.

This team is really hard to watch right now...they're just not very good.

The AL central is by the closest division right now. only 1.5 games separates 1st from 5th.

Santana needs a day...or weekend off.

I agree with these statements, but give it some time. It's still very early. No one is hitting the ball well, and our starting pitching has been serviceable at best. Last year's squad started off slow too. Kipnis was hitting .238 at the end of May last season and the tribe was barely a .500 ball club at that time. Kipnis finished the season hitting .284 and the tribe was 22 games over .500... I know it's tough to be patient, but try to remember we're probably seeing the worst of this ball club right now.
