Red Birds @ Red Legs - Game 3
-
Azubuike24I'm glad Price is giving his starters the benefit of the doubt (Cingrani pulled after 88 pitches in the 7th). That pen they have is studly
-
Azubuike24That should be a double play.
That ball hit the wall. Reds should get a DP. -
wildcats20Woooooooo
That looked like it hit Billy's glove!! -
wildcats20Ahh yeah it definitely hit the wall
-
Azubuike24They threw it back to the infield and touched second base. Therefore, the runner who was on first would be out...and if they tagged the runner standing on second first, it's a DP.
It's not fair to STL, but the umps made it on the field, and the result should follow.
Instead, they are saying it's being a reviewed for a HR? -
wildcats20They messed that up big time....
There HAS to be AT LEAST 1 out. -
Azubuike24Actually nevermind, we saw the runners just retreating 1 base each. Bases loaded for St. Louis is the correct call...

I never saw a runner on 3rd....Azubuike24;1600622 wrote:Actually nevermind, we saw the runners just retreating 1 base each. Bases loaded for St. Louis is the correct call... -
Azubuike24
The camera angle was bad, but Holliday was the runner retreating to first. Each runner went 1 base, but no further.wildcats20;1600623 wrote:I never saw a runner on 3rd.... -

Yeah, never could really see 3rd base.Azubuike24;1600624 wrote:The camera angle was bad, but Holliday was the runner retreating to first. Each runner went 1 base, but no further. -
Azubuike24Despite the confusion and bad camera work, I do think the correct result was right. If anything, the Cardinals would've had a double or triple and 2 RBI's if not for the confusion. The grab by Bruce at least created the illusion that it maybe was a catch...
-
wildcats20
Yeah had Bruce not caught the rebound, this game is 100% over lol.Azubuike24;1600627 wrote:Despite the confusion and bad camera work, I do think the correct result was right. But had the runner stayed at 1st and 2nd and not moved up, there would be at least 1 out on the play(like you said). -
Azubuike24Well, it's over anyway. Until we get the back 3 relievers back, this pen is going to be very difficult to deal with...some pure trash out there.
-
Azubuike24
-
RotinajIt doesn't matter what the pen does if the offense can't do shit. Complete garbage after the first.
-
Azubuike24
I'd normally agree, but this team has invested heavily into pitching and baseball has slowly gotten back to where it was in the 80's. 2-1, 3-2, 1-0 games are going to be the norm. Sub 3 ERA's are the norm in the pen. You simply can't win with the names they are rolling out there, even with 3 or 4 potential ace starters.Rotinaj;1600633 wrote:It doesn't matter what the pen does if the offense can't do shit. Ironman92The umpire called it SAFE.... Correct? Why did the runners retreat? Runner on 2nd had to be on 3rd and runner on 1st nearly 2nd......if they see the ump at all they easily have a run in and a runner on 2nd and 3rd
-
Azubuike24
The runners all went 1 base, overran that base and when the camera panned back, each runner was retreating. That's why I was confused at first, it appeared that the runners were just going back to first and second and Holliday was also at first (it was the base coach). That would've created a force out at 3rd and 2nd.Ironman92;1600636 wrote:The umpire called it SAFE.... Correct? Why did the runners retreat? The announcers did an awful job at explaining it... -
wildcats20
They were just steps off the bases. Like they had rounded the base, but not moved on.Ironman92;1600636 wrote:The umpire called it SAFE.... Correct? Why did the runners retreat? Ironman92Yeah...I'm basically just saying the base runners only watched the Bruce dive and reacted to it and not the umpire making the call
-
Azubuike24
It's tough, because it's still a live ball. Lets say the replay was reversed? You still need to get on a base safely and stay, that way they can't call more than 1 out. Say they all watch the umps (who call it no catch) and everyone keeps going. If both runners scored, you could then tag 2nd and 1st, and if it was ruled a catch on the field, that's a triple play.Ironman92;1600642 wrote:Yeah...I'm basically just saying the base runners only watched the Bruce dive and reacted to it and not the umpire making the call
Then again, I'm not all familiar with how reversed calls on baseball replays work. -
Ironman92
Good point......I wish they'd play it full go based on the umpire's call and if it is reversed just put players on what base the average player would've been on. I know people have trouble with things like that but it's just not that hard.Azubuike24;1600645 wrote:It's tough, because it's still a live ball. Lets say the replay was reversed? Play that play according to the ump and a runner scores easily and 2nd and 3rd...... If it's replayed and shows a legal catch, just send them back to 1st and 2nd -
Azubuike24It's most likely how it is in the NFL. If a fumble that is ruled down on the field is also returned for a TD, they will review it and change possession, but once the possession change happens, the ball is dead there. It's unfair to the defense often times, but it's the best compromise you can make without basically having guys just play through all whistles in-case of a potential review.
-
Azubuike24Wow, how did a dude that big ever make a play in the stands?
-
wildcats20Frazier!!!!!
