Nominate your (sports related) person or group to die in a fire

  • queencitybuckeye
For me today, it's the Baseball Writers Association of America. At least one of these slapdicks is on record (and I'm sure there are more) as not going to include Greg Maddux on their Hall of Fame ballot. Please note that I am not a fan of the Braves, Cubs, or any other team he played for. My beef has nothing to do with him one way or the other. My respectful opinion to the BBWAA is as follows:

    Dear Fucking Pinheads:

Here's a clue, the perpetuation of stupidity is just that, it is not "tradition". That some of your predecessors in your profession were small is not a call to arms for you to follow in their footsteps. When you cast your Hall of Fame ballots in the future, please cast your vote for those whose credentials are without question worthy. In other words, elevate your profession, don't lower it to the petty level of some who came before you. If you do not find yourself capable of doing so, kindly die in a fire.

    Sincerely,
    Triple-digit IQ baseball fans

It is his first year right? I know some of them wont select someone on the first ballot, and that is fucking stupid.

Maddux was an amazing pitcher who did what he did at the height of the steriod era. He tied, or broke, Cy Youngs record for most consecutive 15+ win seasons. Hell, I would tape the games on TBS when he was pitching for the braves if I could not be home to watch it. Guy was such a great and smart pitcher.

and I nominate the idiot browns fans who get all butthurt when you lob an insult towards their team.. Ya wouldthink they would be used to losing in crazy ways by now. Chill...it is just a game.....a late season game in which the loss just helsp your draft picks

I agree that there are too many assholes trying to make a "point" with their votes, though I'm not quite sure what that point is other than "look at me, I'm a joke."

I nominate the dumbass steelers fans who live in ohio, and support a rapist QB. When they are called out on it, they do everything they can to spin the fact their quarterback is a rapist POS. Same applies to Mike Tomlin, instead of admitting what he did was wrong, they try their very best to change the course of the conversation LOL. This is a special GFY to steelers "fans" from ohio, who are also OSU fans.

They are just old piece of shit who hold a butt hurt grudge, and want to show baseball that they still have some "power." It's a joke. I am glad deadspin bought a vote. Hopefully they can buy more votes next year.

Not sure if you are singling me out with this or not, but...
I am not a buckeyes fan. I follow them and most times hope they win as we have had a few local kids recently go and play there.
I didnt spin the MT thing. I think he shoulda been fined heavily, and possibly suspended. He fucked up. I am not certain that he tried it though.
Roethlisberger, eh. The older I get the more I just root for the name on the front, and not the back. Players come, players go. Some are good guys, some are garbage human beings. I used to really care about the type of person they were but any more I just dont.

All the SEC thumpers can die in a fire. If the Reds win the World Series, you won't hear me chanting, "NLC!!!"

    Here is my list:

-bandwagon/fair weather fans in general (especially the steelers "fans" i just described)
-The BBWA as QCB pointed out
-Not sure who votes for MLB MVP, but they can go fuck themselves as well. If you want to see petty butt hurtness at it's best, just look at Albert Belle's stats vs Mo Vaughn's stats in 1995 and tell me who deserved to be MVP.
    -Lebron James
-The NBA as a whole. Congrats on allowing the players run the league and making more than 50% of the league a pile of shit.
    -Bud Selig
    -Cleveland sports media
    -ESPN
-FIFA, corrupt as hell. Qatar with the WC bid? What a joke, and now they are talking about hosting the WC during the winter.
    - IOC, speaking of corrupt. This organization was seriously about to drop wrestling for squash, meanwhile allow sports such as trampoline, modern pent, power walking to remain.
-FILA, international wrestling organization that was blind to the fact that FIFA was going to fuck them over. Same organization that has now eliminated 4 weight classes. Great job promoting your sport : thumbup:
    -NCAA in general
    -Title IX

    FIFY.

There are good parts to Title IX, but it has become a shit storm, and people use it for their own benefit.

    Good: Equal playing facilities.

Yes, how could I forget this.

Gotta love a Tennessee fan talking shit regarding the SEC's current title streak.

    Don't even bother humoring him.

Another for FIFA and the way they deal with diving. No fan wants to see diving, it's fucking bitch behavior and ruins the game. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

It was good when it was passed in the 70's. It is not necessary now, and the way it is now applied to sports is completely contradictory to what its intentions were. Now Title IX has a "if little maria can't play, then we are going to take little billy's ball away so he can't play either" mentality.

YEAH BRO!! You are so ABOVE IT ALL!!!!! WOOOO!!! (/auto).

Flops should be reviewed, and the players either get an automatic ban for next game, or start with a yellow card.

Yep, I was shocked at all those Cleveland "fans" who ignored the fact they had a good baseball team until September when it became apparent they were for real and had a good shot at the playoffs. Bandwagoners and frontrunners suck!

Not above it, just over that particular convo.

And I 100% agree with the the flopping comment. I'd like to see a similar system introduced in the NBA if ridiculous flopping continues to be an issue.

Unfortunately that is the least of most concerns regarding fifa, and soccer. They need to fix themselves within, before they even start fixing the game.

I agree about flopping. Overall in sports, I think that's the worst thing out there. You see it all over the place. You have offense-friendly rules in football, so some guys try to get a call by recoiling off incidental minor contact, basketball flopping is a joke and while I'm not a big soccer fan, I always hear about it happening there. It's supposed to be about being the best at competition, not trying to game the system by being a big bitch.

455 consecutive regular-season home games, Indians fans filled -- or at least paid for -- every seat in the house.

    Thanks.

+1 until the pirates have that streak, you can kindly STFU. Thanks.

Also, have a couple college friends (actually from pitt), who were yankees fans for as long as I can remember them. All of a sudden this year they are Pirates fans LOL. Also talking about the same city who pretends they are great hockey fans, even though their lover boy Mario was about to move their team because nobody was coming to their games. Back to Back drafts saved the franchise and hid the fact that their fans suck ass. Not to mention last year was the steelers first year not above .500 for awhile, yet that led them to having lower attendance numbers than the Browns. Yeah, so if I am a pitt "fan," I would probably stfu.

A big reason of why I'm proud to be a USMT supporter. While we aren't a world power, you sure as shit won't see any sissy diving.

I haven't noticed much this season, but maybe the NBA is getting better since they introducing fining for flopping.

Best thing about the penguins is the movie Sudden Death starring JCVD. The reason they chose Pittsburgh for that movie? They could film during a real live game and not interrupt the fans bc there were 12 ppl in attendance. LOL LOL LOL

    lol...you fucking love Van Damme.

You do realize that the browns stadium capacit is 8k more than pittsburgh right?
Last year the browns were on avg 91% capacity.
The steelers were 94% capacity last year.

So, yeah, technically the browns attendance in numbers was more but they were less capacity.

This year is different though...clev is at 97, pitt is at 91.
Ill be honest..I havent made it there yet this season mostly because they suck. Went to the game in Cincy though, and scheduled to go to the browns steelers in the last game. I know my buddies and i have sold many of our steelers tix this year.....not quite as fun making the 600+ mile round trip when the team sucks.
