How is he dampening their credibility? They watched a game and analyzed the play of two QB's everyone knows are competing for the job.

I didn't say he was dampening their credibility. Read it again.

    ...should be "won't try".

Terrible interpretation by a terrible poster.

And nowhere did I compare him to Hoyer either positively or negatively. Settle down old man

This "indecision" about the starting QB for the 2nd game is laughable.

If it isn't Johnny then Pettine is a complete joke and this supposed QB competition is exposed as being the farce that it is.

If he trots Hoyer out there again then he looses all credibility and is exposed as being a liar before he even coaches his first real game.

Since he is on the record as saying that the starter of the 3rd preseason game will be the opening day starter, then Johnny needs his chance this week if this competition was anything more than a sham.

I believe he will start, he is just fucking with the media.

Listen up Cletus. Listen up. Manziel will dodge and evade people his whole career...first teamers, second teamers, water boys, and hall of famers. Browns have probably the most exciting, talented player in the league. And clowns like you want to play Wayne Kirby over Manny Ramirez.I agree with Iggypride. Give Football the starting nod this week against the Skins. If it's competition as Pettine claimed, then he needs to get it done. And BTW, Manziel did a whole lot more than run for a couple of first downs. He found the open receiver the whole time he was in there. The only thing he did wrong is not handing the ball off on 3rd and one his first series.

"Cleve safety Donte Whitner told me he thinks the Browns locker room's 50-50 Hoyer/Manziel. They'd be okay with either starting."

Just freaking cut Hoyer already. The guy is a cancer who is jealous that Johnny is already playing heads up with him when he's been in the league toiling away in obscurity for 6 years now.

He thinks because he played well for about 2 quarters last year and that he is from Cleveland it should be his starting job. Poisoning the locker room against the future of the franchise with his brown nose ass kissing of the coaching staff in an effort to keep his job.

He can't win it with talent on the field, so he is lobbying the locker room for support against the young upstart QB.

See if the Texans want him because their QB position is hot garbage, but get him far away from Cleveland so Johnny can finally run his team in peace without a career back-up making life difficult for him in the locker room.

He led them to 3 points in 5 drives.

    ....
What has led you to that conclusion??

What else could it be other than political game playing and loyalty that would have half a roster (and some of the coaching staff) preferring what is clearly a less talented quarterback.

...experience allowing a greater depth of the playbook to be used quicker.

Manziel will get his shot. Suggesting that Hoyer is hoodwinking the program and is cancerous is nothing but speculation on your part.

    Is this real life? LOL

And Manziel did not much more than check down on 5,6 or w/e pass completions and scramble a few times.

I thought Iggy was permanently banned...hey mods, what'd you guys do with the money we pooled to keep his ass off this board???

While Iggy & footwedge are fucking morons, I do tend to agree with the overall point. What is the point in not playing Manziel if this race is even somewhat close, which it appears to be thus far? He's the future. And even if we assume Hoyer is slightly better, it's not as if it's the difference in a Super Bowl or not.

Unless Hoyer is head and shoulders above Manziel, I don't see a justification in starting him.

I'd be shocked if Manziel didn't start against Washington.

No one is saying don't start JFF, moreso just calling fw and iggy out for how extreme they come off.

We are one preseason game in, no one knows who is going to start, so stop acting like because pettine is giving each QB playing time with first team, that we are able to make an educated judgment on the starting QB in 4 weeks.

Basically my point is-just let it fucking play out.
  • Commander of Awesome
Was away this weekend for a wedding /MB, so just watching now.

    Some of my thoughts:

    - Tackling; horrendous. Just fucking pathetic. Yes Desir missed a few that legit made me LOL, but the entire team as a whole was just pathetic. Lions didn't have this problem, and is ALWAYS a cleveland a problem. Something in the water?

    - Hoyer played VERY well. HE had 2 over throws, but byond that I was impressed.

-Which brings me to the next point, WR. Yikes. I thought Leon had cloned himself and was playing every WR out there.

    - Tate and West were impressive. I was particularly impressed with West's patience. Something we're not used to seeing in Cleveland. He would wait for holes to materialize.

    - Second unit oline is atrocious

    - I didn't feel like the play calling by the offensive play caller could not count to potato. So that's a plus. First time in a long time I didn't think our offensive game play was a fucking joke, and 70% of the asshats on this site could have called a better game.

Agreed...and it will. Knowing there's more opportunities for both of them, there's no reason for Pettine to speak definitively about either one's status and role.
