Cleveland Cavaliers Season Thread: Kyrie for MVP!

Midstate01CJ Miles on fuckin fire!!

Lovejoy1984I would've preferred Drummond, to Waiters, and Oladipo this past year, but what can you do.
-
wes_mantoothThe huge swing and a miss on the #1 last year is my only gripe. I know he's a rookie, but I just don't see what they saw in him

Pick6It was a great trade. Not going to go into much detail. Still maintain flexibility..pretty sure Deng's contract expires. We traded a 1st pick we will never see and two very low 2nd round picks and a worthless player for a player who was an All-Star last season and upgraded our worst position (by far). Sooo bad. But hey, let's keep tanking, fire our FO, coaching staff, let our best players leave, and start all over again. I mean, that is the Cleveland way.

If Deng isn't extended then it's a horrible deal without question. What's the scenario in that case? Give up future assets, get a 7 seed, get ass raped by the Heat in the playoffs, pick 10 spots lower in the draft, and then have Deng walk?Pick6;1564423 wrote:It was a great trade. I think any benefit is contingent on Deng being a long-term answer, and I don't think there's any way that's more beneficial than getting a high draft pick and then making moves in free agency.
Salvaging the current season shouldn't be the top priority. -

I would really hope the FO wouldn't make the trade without something with Deng's agent about signing Lon term in Cleveland.Mulva;1564428 wrote:If Deng isn't extended then it's a horrible deal without question. Or maybe the FO just made the deal to get Deng for a year, make the playoffs, lose in the first round, but keep their jobs.
WHo knows -
Midstate01Even if he leaves it's not an awful deal. They then just have all that cap. Believe they'd have taken a cap hit releasing Bynum. So even if he left, he's great for the locker room for a couple months and maybe teaches the young guys a few things.

Lovejoy1984I have a feeling the Cavs will re-up with Deng, however I believe they won't make it official until they hear what LeBron is doing. They will keep his rights until LeBron says yay or nay, If he says Yay, they will let him walk, Nay they will sign him, as they will have his bird rights.
I do think this is a solid trade, as they are picking up an All-Star caliber player for a player they were just going to cut anyway. As everyone has said, Kings pick will likely never happen. 2nd rd picks rarely work out, and swapping picks with the Bulls shouldn't be too bad as they shouldn't be that good, going forward. -

hangonsloopyKyrie, Dion, and TT need to experience winning and the playoffs of they aren't going to want to stay here. At some point the culture needs to change and they need to believe the FO is trying to win not improve their lottery chances. This trade goes a long way to help that IMO. Great deal.

Is this legal under NBA rules? Seems like it would be tampering until the trade was actually made. I know the Bulls decided to trade him after Deng rejected a 3/30 offer last week, but I doubt the Bulls would give the Cavs permission to talk to him.SportsAndLady;1564433 wrote:I would really hope the FO wouldn't make the trade without something with Deng's agent about signing Lon term in Cleveland. -

On RCF it was mentioned the Cavs assistant GM and Deng have the same agent. So take that FWIW.SportsAndLady;1564433 wrote:I would really hope the FO wouldn't make the trade without something with Deng's agent about signing Lon term in Cleveland.

I meant more off the record type stuff from Deng and his agentssportswizuhrd;1564615 wrote:Is this legal under NBA rules? Seems like it would be tampering until the trade was actually made. Nothing on paper -
bases_loadedGetting Deng and his bird rights for shitty draft picks and a bum. Great trade. You get a borderline allstar 3 that will allow you to not be held hostage by the king.

Yep. The guy I know has told me the same thing. His confidence in Lebron coming back from months ago has severely waned as well.ohiobucks1;1564386 wrote:and his whole tone was different. -

On an unrelated not, I was told that Manziel just signed with Maverick, so I may have some Browns news somewhat soon.
Also, I'm told that a Haslam has been turned on to Tressel by a few rich buddies and told them "He wasn't on my radar, but I will consider it", which would be kind of fucking awesome. -

Maverick is simply a POS, so idgaf what he has to say.ohiobucks1;1564796 wrote:On an unrelated not, I was told that Manziel just signed with Maverick, so I may have some Browns news somewhat soon.

FootwedgeI love Brownie as a coach. But he has to shoulder the blame for this year's crap. Irving's always hurt, Waiters is a POS, Bennett drafted instead of Oladipo was a crime. With the addition of Deng, Brownie has really no excuse for not winning. It's too bad that cap space wont allow the Cavs to sign both LeBron and Deng. Unless they dump Andy, which I do not want to see.
Having a healthy Irving, a healthy Deng and the king on the court at the same time would be fun to watch. -

Lol, Darren Rovell was reporting this last night.ohiobucks1;1564796 wrote:On an unrelated not, I was told that Manziel just signed with Maverick, so I may have some Browns news somewhat soon. -

Yeah, just one of my buddies told me. Not trying to make it seem like any inside info. I just figured since my dad talks to that posse quite a bit, that I would hear some Manziel rumors at some point.sportswizuhrd;1564893 wrote:Lol, Darren Rovell was reporting this last night. -
TiernanHey Pick 6...I see you've got two more whole wins since our bet back on 12/23. Feelin' like youre gonna be gone for awhile buddy come April.

I'm not worried.Tiernan;1565111 wrote:Hey Pick 6...I see you've got two more whole wins since our bet back on 12/23. Feelin' like youre gonna be gone for awhile buddy come April. -
Pick6sample size obviously extremely small, but the Cavs just played the best quarter I've seen all season.
-
RotinajCavs looking pretty good against one of the best in the west. 55 wins is starting to look like a possibility.
-
RotinajAV has already played in more games than he did in the previous 3 years(not combined). We'll win about 7 of 10 then he'll get his season ender.
