I know Troy Smith is in the CFL, but if he can come back to the NFL right now and sign with the Browns would you guys bring him in? Obviously with Hoyer out the Browns don't have a capable QB and Troy was at least a servicable QB when he played and can't be any worse than Weeden I would think, so what would be the harm? I can't think of any other QB that may be available as a free agent that could do any better.

Terry_Tate;1517946 wrote:That's what I would at least do. His problem in the NFL before was completion percentage and I don't know if that was more due to his receivers or him, but I just don't see how it could hurt. The only argument I could see against it is they're drafting a QB next year so it would be just for the rest of this year and they're already in week 7. My biggest thought process though is Weeden sucks and this team has playoff potential so why not try something even if it's a long shot.
Agreed. Hell, as said numerous times already, there's no way he can be any worse than Weeden.

Damn I never thought Weeden could suck as bad as he did but even porn stars are blushing at his sucktitude on Sunday.

That being said, wouldn't shock me if these clowns won on Sunday. Defense needs to pick up their skirts too. This decline can also be blamed (mostly) on Weeden and his 3 & out's.

10.5 point dogs this week, biggest spread in vegas for the week. Breowns should take this as fuel.

I was on the Teddy bandwagon but I think by the time the draft rolls around Maroita leap frogs him, if he comes out. Im not that impressed with Bridgewater to say he is a sure fire number 1. I think hes good but just not sold on him.

EDIT: Its sad Hoyer was playing and we were talking playoffs now with Weeden its what QB are we taking.

Agreed, on all points. Not a Bridgewater fan.

I think that if he comes back healthy AND they don't have to use two 1st's to get their QB, that Hoyer is your 2014 starter and the rook sits. I think that's part of the reason they didn't rush out to sign Josh Freeman....there was no guarantee of a "future" here for him.

T-Rich still hasn't rushed for over 60 yards in a game this season.

That wouldn't bug me. I really hope we keep both first round picks. Seems like enough value at QB this upcoming draft to sit and wait for one to drop to you.

He's thread-banned from this thread? Used to have a red bar appear in the "time posted/post #" bar for that, but I don't see one to indicate that.

I know. I actually unbanned him and rebanned him 2 times to try and get the bar to appear. I thought it wasnt processing or something...

2 days removed, this is both frustrating and hilarious.

    Seriously, WTF! 1st down dumbfuck.

I didn't realize it was on first down until yesterday. It's crazy to see that type of fuck up at this level.

I bet the home fans were flipping the fuck out.

Yeah, I would prefer to keep both first rounders, and maybe look at Hundley or Bortles(if he comes out). Hoyer should be back in time to start, and let the Rookie learn for a year or two, providing Hoyer plays the way he did in his 2 games this year.
  • Commander of Awesome
Hundley will be the #2 pick, book it. I can see several scenarios were the first 3 picks are QBs and Clowney goes #4. Lot of teams that need QBs.
  • shook_17
I really hope we don't have to burn both first round picks to trade up. Hoyer should definitely get the leg up in the competion next year. Let the rook sit for a year or two.

We deserve to have luck on our side for once.

By the way Bridgewater and Bortles go head to head on Friday night.

Depending on where we end up, if we want a top QB we better hope that a team like the Rams (who have a QB in place) end up at #1 or #2 so we can trade up. Now if the Jags end up at #1, just forget trading, and hopefully a team like the Vikings aren't at #2 because they're taking Hundley. Steelers end up at #2 we can also forget it, theyre not going to hand us a franchise QB. Basically we need to hope that the Jets, Bills, Raiders, NY (though they prb Clowney) end up with the #2 pick so a trade discussion can even happen. Vikings, Cards, Stillers end up there you can pretty much forget a trade. We could also end up being in the top picks as we're terrible with Weeden under center.

Regardless if we trade up for a QB, BOTH first rounds picks will be needed. A team isn't going to give us a fucking QB for flipping our first round picks and throwing in a 6th rounder. That only happens with Cleveland, trading in the division to give the ravens a HOF dlineman. Sucks but that's the market set by idiot Redskins. Hell it will probably take next year's first as well depending on how far we have to move up.

A lot about a QB's development has to do with coaching too. Because I think that Chud/Turner are really good at that, and especially with Hoyer in the fold, I really don't think we'll trade up.

To me it's not about how many QB's from the 2014 class will be pro bowlers, it's how many QB's COULD be pro bowlers under the right tutelage and the right system.

    http://walterfootball.com/draft2014QB.php

Looking at that list, I count at least 8 guys that I think the Browns could turn into a pro bowl QB.

This will have little impact but Jake Stoneburner will be activated to play for Green Bay. Last week he was awarded their rookie of the week and got to travel with them.....he may actually get to see the field against the Browns.

Cool Story.....his aunt is the EMIS Coordinator at my school.

Thoughts on the Browns offering a pick to NY for Hakeem Nicks? The Giants are apparently shopping him around a little bit, as they have Randle coming on, gave Cruz the huge contract, and he'll be an expensive FA after this season.

What would it take to get him?

Only way you go after Nicks is if you plan on re-signing him. With his injury history, and the fact he has never been a dominant WR for more than a few games at a time, I would not do it. Maybe if you can get a Patriots kind of deal with a day 3 draft pick, you do. But nothing higher than a 4th (probably 5th) for him...

Idk, get a good QB in the draft to go with Cameron, nicks, and Gordon? Oooweee
