Honestly, you might be the only person in America who watches full games his team isnt playing in.Ironman92;1514714 wrote:Surprising to me
MLB ruined itself when it went so local with individual TV deals and the like. Everyone gets to see their team and has no connection to anyone else. I like baseball a LOT more than most in my generation (27 yrs old) and I havent watched a full WS game since the DBacks walked off versus Rivera. Ill watch this year if the Dodgers make it, cause Ill watch any game Kershaw pitches in. But he is probably the only guy in baseball outside the Indians who has that appeal to me. -

Just about every team has a few players I enjoy watching....love the game.Laley23;1514737 wrote:Honestly, you might be the only person in America who watches full games his team isnt playing in.

se-alumThe great thing about the baseball playoffs, moreso in the World Series, is that every pitch is so tense. There's really nothing else like it in sports.

you are exactly right...but that's a view of someone who understands the game on a deeper level. This is how I feel, on all counts. Pittsburgh is a great Cinderella story but rooting for them would probably be the equivalent of tongue kissing ones sister (which I'm sure fans in the Burgh know a thing or two about).lhslep134;1514586 wrote:Rooting for Detroit to make the World Series and lose (wager with a Detroit fan).
Would love to root for Pittsburgh but because they're also Steelers fans they can go F themselves.
If I'm going to lose my bet, I'm pulling for the A's -

I would respectfully disagree. Hockey playoffs are the most intense on the edge of your seat experience even if you have no rooting interest for any team.se-alum;1514748 wrote:The great thing about the baseball playoffs, moreso in the World Series, is that every pitch is so tense. TedShecklerI would never root for the Pirates, because I'm sure all of their fans are also Steelers and Penguins fans. Fuck them.

MLB, NHL and Soccer are all edge of your seat if you are talking about 1 play/pitch can be the difference at any moment. -
thavoicePirates.
or Dodgers because I enjoy watching stud pitchers such as Kershaw just tear teams apart.
But as much as I love baseball I dont watch the postseason a whole lot. Maybe if it is a game 7, or 5 in the division round, where the game is win or go home. Seem to always find myself flipping to other stuff knowing that I can always watch the next game in the series. Maybe it is because during the season I watch/listen to much to the reds games I get a little burned out on the game. -

True, but I am not sure if it ruined itself. Have you seen the money that the teams are getting from those deals? It is afuckingmazing.Laley23;1514737 wrote:Honestly, you might be the only person in America who watches full games his team isnt playing in.

Back when I was a kid there was a channel out of Ft Wayne Indiana, WFFT Fox, now a full fledged fox affiliate, who would make a huge deal (because i was) of carrying like 10 cubs games, 10 white sox and 10 reds game, and that was about all you could watch. You could listen to the games of course and that is normally what we did, but I think that TV has raised interest in the game/teams itself. Attendance has been solid over the years and people tune in to watch.
Sure, you the Game Of The Week on Fox and the postseason may not get as huge of ratings as they used to but season wide it is bringing in billions of dollars for the teams. -
IliketurtlesNot a Tribe or Reds fan... but as a Marlins fan I am fucking glad the Braves are done. Fuck them.
For who is left I would rank them for who I want to win as:
1)A's
2)Pirates
3)Dodgers
4)Tigers
5)Red Sox
6)St Louis -
reclegend22I don't watch a single baseball game during the regular-season, but I watch pretty much every single game of the playoffs that I can in its entirety (except for Cardinals games; even as a casual fan of the sport, I just hate them for whatever reason and cannot watch). I'm not even a fan of Detroit (not a hater, either) and was clinging on to every pitch hoping they'd win. The same the other night for the Braves against the Dodgers. I think, more than anything, I was pulling for the Braves out of nostalgia for the '90s and remembering how great those Cleveland-Atlanta and Atlanta-New York series' were.
Baseball is probably the best playoff sport in America at the professional level. They're great. -

I do to a degree. Of my group of friends I hang out with a lot, I'm a Pirates fan, a couple others are Reds fans and a couple others are Indians fans, so we all watch each other's teams while sitting around drinking. And when I'm at home, I like having sports on TV while I work out, so while I might not be paying attention all that closely, I do tend to have a Reds/Indians game most nights.Laley23;1514737 wrote:Honestly, you might be the only person in America who watches full games his team isnt playing in.

But as far as avidly following, you might have a point. I was over at a friend's house Monday night and we were talking about how, when it's the playoffs, it's the only time we'd ever want to watch something like a Boston-TB game. And Clay Buchholz's way of taking about 2 minutes between each pitch was only part of the reason. -

Hockey is my top postseason sport. Mostly because each score, more so than the other sports, can change everything and it is so back and forth. Love baseball and can hang on every pitch, but in hockey you can go from one team almost scoring to the other one lighting the lamp in a matter of seconds. -

Gotta agree with the last part about Bost/TB. Regular season, wont waste a second. Postseason...will flip and watch if its close and guys on bas.Heretic;1515439 wrote:I do to a degree.
