2013 Random Playoff Thread

Holy shit. Craziest ending to a WS game I've ever seen...
  • ptown_trojans_1
    The right call.
    Crazy, yeah.

It'll be interesting to see what the actual rule is. I think they got it right. If a fielder gets in the way between 1st and 2nd the runner is safe, regardless of intent. I've never seen it between 3rd and home.
  • Azubuike24
My question is, does it matter where it occurred at? I mean, he was laying between 2nd and 3rd, on the inside of the 3B bag. Isn't there some responsibility of the runner to not trip there? I mean Craig was 3 feet left of the 3B bag...

    Dumb play by Salty IMO....

Lost in all this was a fucking outstanding play by Pedroia
  • HitsRus
It might have been the right call, but I've seen a lot worse ignored and not called. Terrible way for a WS game(or any game of consequence)to end on. It sucks for Boston...but if you don't make the call STL has a legitimate beef too.
  • Ironman92
That call had to be made. I have not seen worse not called.

Well in the replay too the 3rd Baseman totally tripped him, raises his legs up
  • Ironman92
Pedroia is one tough ass, damn good 2nd baseman

Time after time after time this postseason managers are taking out the starting pitcher with 2 or fewer runs allowed and keep getting burned.

Seems like it's worked about 1 out of 15 times.

    Lackey pitches the 8th

Crazy finishes in game 3 and game 4.

Baseball is the most difficult sport to play correctly. These teams are a long way from perfection in their play.

Ortiz is hitting .727 thru 4 games

Didnt see the play, but as a runner in a pickle you do what you can to make sure there is contact so you get the next base. Doesnt matter the intent. You have to assume they are going to tag you out, unless you are Benny The Jet.
You of course cannot go out of your way, but you want to be congizant of the fielders around you and do not shy away from the contact. Many times you see a runner move out of the way, slow down, etc of one of the fielders who do not have the ball and you dont want to do that.

saw this morning he had a little pep talk with the team before the 6th inning AB?

Who on the reds would do something like that and be a leader?
  • Ironman92
