Ridiculous. -
FootwedgeCount me in as another that is LMAO at this baseball writer wanting a "fair playing field" to determine a champion. What I would give to get this asshole on the phone...on the radio to discuss this .Inspite of Jordo's incessant arguments otherwise, wins and losses in MLB are commensurate with $$$$ spent.
As to the complaint that the tribe has sucked against the big boys....so what. 50-18 against the squibbs is a phenominal record. And what has happened in the reg season does NOT translate to what can happen in the playoffs.
My guess is thay Leyland does not want to face the tribe in round 2. Law of averages type of thing.
On another topic...I've been a rare Tito critic all year on things...but he is finally getting it right. It took him way too long in figuring out Reynolds was a bum. It took him too long to figure our Gomes and Raburn needed to play a lot more. And too long to figure out that you need a quicker hook on some of our starters. -
HitsRusYeah...wouldn't mind having a few of those games he gave away now. On the other hand...how many of us would have traded Ubaldo and/or Druby for a bag of balls if we had the chance? You gotta weigh the whole season, and I think that all of us would have been ecstatic if you would have told us last April we 'd be duking it out for a wild card spot. We might be down on Reynolds now, but even HE contributed to our good start. It's tough pushing all the right buttons....

wes_mantoothI just wish we had those two Boston games back...of course a lot of teams can say things like that I guess

me too.I want those two fucking games back. -
BRFSee, I always bitch about those and how it will feel later in the season and some say "oh, it's early...and blah blah...doesn't matter, etc."
It's like a DOUBLE LOSS because IF you are in it at the end, you get to think about those.
It matters. -

The wild card game will be played Wednesday Oct 2.
That ALDS game will be the third game of the ALDS series...the first two are played in Boston...and it would be Monday Oct 7, followed by game 2 (really game 4) if necessary on Tues. Oct 8.
Gotta get there first. Not good results tonite....The Rays pulled it out in the 9th beating the Birds 5-4. The Rangers were ahead of the 'Stros 9-0 last I checked. Tamnpa will be up a full game on the Tribe and the Rangers will be one game behind, with 6 to go. -
