Week 3: Cleveland Incompetents @ Minnesota Petersons

  • CLEconomically Speaking
I actually like the matchup with Minnesota this week. Our front seven is strong.. let's load the box and force Ponder to throw. Offensively, I think the return of Gordon helps Trich by giving Hoyer a downfield option. This will also automatically make Hoyer look better than Weeden has thus far.

    Wouldn't be hard.

Little is benched, about time some accountability happens.

Nice pwn article. My favorite line, "If Turner is to be such a difference maker, how could he not do better than 1-for-14 on third downs even if he had built his offense from the night shift at Tower City Mall?"

Don't fool yourself. Vikes aren't that bad. They have put up 54 points the first two weeks. Ponder CAN beat the Browns if they don't put heat on him.

I expect the "same old, same old" (10 points or less) in this one.

Turner is/was so overrated by some people it's laughable. The guy has had bad offenses just as frequently as good ones. I mean, San Diego finished 31st in total offense last year.

Everyone kept bringing up early 90s Dallas when he was hired and ignoring the last decade.
  • BR1986FB
Oh yeah, I'm sure it's been mentioned but Mitchell Schwartz has Jared Allen across from him this week so we have that going for us too.

    Josh Freeman?

I would love to trade for josh freeman but I think this team needs to draft the top QB this year so I'm not sure if its even worth it. We get freeman, we go 7-9, games are a little easier to watch, but it doesn't improve our playoff chances.
  • Rotinaj
We wouldn't go 7-9 with Freeman. He was bad last year and he's been terrible this year.

He was bad last year? He threw for 4000 yards and 27 TDs.

That would most likely shatter browns QB records since 99.

The Browns all-time record, by Brian Sipe, was 4,132 in 1980. I don't believe another Browns QB has ever thrown for 4000.

Freeman sure as Hell wouldn't do it with this crew. He's not that good.

Freeman is a slightly more talented weeden. Inconsistent, not a leader, doesn't make good decisions. He's obviously got the physical tools... had a 5 game stretch last year with 13td to 1 int, but never sustains it. Which is why Tampa is kicking him to the curb. Same reason Fitzpatrick got dumped by buffalo. Same reason weeden's time here is just about up.

Weeden's time was up from the sec we drafted him.

Shit, I think we all wish that Weeden had as much success as those guys. smdh

I remember hating the pick so much...mainly because every time I saw a Justin Blackmon highlight, it was due to a terribly underthrown ball by Weeden.

Fab4 and I were sitting at a bar during the draft and the loud boos were hilarious though.

Weeden's career has been pretty shitty but it can be argued that he's done more than that piece of crap Blackmon.

I wouldn't argue that although I am curious to see if Blackmon ever gets someone to throw him the ball.

I'm not saying take freeman I'm just saying he'd be a lot better than what were currently stuck with. He's obviously not a long term answer.

I also remember everyone on here begging not to take Alex smith in Cleveland. That acquisition is turning out okay for KC.

New rule: no one is able to have an opinion on another QB. Because it almost always turns out wrong.

Watched the draft with a couple of buddies at my apt. After the Weeden pick, one of the guys just got up and left without saying a word. Brought teh lulz.

I never wanted weeden. Always said it would be a desperation reach by holmgren and heckert if they draft him and as you can see it is.

    Or can avoid suspension.

Yeah it was desperation...and it didn't make any sense. A lot of people claim that he would have been there in the 3rd round according to GMs from around the league. I think he gets too much blame though...not his fault that those idiots drafted him way too early.

That's the big thing. He's one alcoholic beverage away from never playing again. He had a solid rookie year though with no quarterback.
  • SportsAndLady
He was almost 30, so he was nfl ready. Lmao.

    Forget talent, he was old

Many QBs hit their prime when they reach that age so he still has a shot.

no, he really doesn't. Not because of his age, but because he doesn't have the talent. He has a good arm, but terrible pocket presence and decision making.
