Love/hate relationship. This past Sunday, I wanted to turn it off after every error. But they find a way to string wins together so I still have some faith.

^^^I watched that game from the left field bleachers and I'm still trying to figure out how we won that game. The only thing I can come up with, is that the infield owes the pitching staff a steak dinner and a hooker.

The good news is...there isn't a team who is a bigger mess right now with any hope of the playoffs than the Braves. No pitching, lack of hitting, already had their "hot streak."

So how do you play 500 ball over a nine game stretch? Must be a tie in there somehow.

    Hurts, don't it?

    Hertz Doughnut..........ha ha ha ha!

    Go T-Bone!

Just tuning in after work. I see we have left 9 runners on base and have had 10 total. Im guessing no steals or hit and runs?

This offensive slump is costing them a playoff spot at the moment.

Same old story here tonight. Chances and doing nothing with em.

Avilan is filthy and ditto for Kimbrel. Getting to them now is next to impossible.
  • TBone14
I know we have discussed this over and over...but how awful is Underwood at judging fly balls.

When Brantley hit that one to end the 8th...which ended up 10 feet short of the track, Underwood got all excited and his exact quote was "Brantley tees off". One would think doing it night in and night out he would improve.
  • Laley23
Especially at the field. SOOO much eaiser to judge.

I just dont understand what Atlanta is doing running out Kimbrel as much as they are. They have a huge lead. Just run him out there to get scheduled work. I agree with Harold Reynolds and Mitch Williams on this. Stupid to throw him 3 days in a row like they did not to long ago.

Just frustrating to watch them try to score runs.....no 'luck' either. When we've hit'em they've been right at someone...and the close plays have all gone the other way.:(

...we really need Stubbs to get on base to lead off the 9th.
  • HitsRus
    well that game sucked.
  • Laley23
    Yeah...

Tonights is pretty much a must win, right? Cant lose with Masterson tomorrow after losing today. I have an odd feeling Ubaldo will get the win on Thursday (I seriously dont know why), so that means he will probably lose. But tomorrows game is crucial for the rest of this 9 game stretch.

Ubaldo pitches ugly but gets the job done. Especially since the break. Like I posted late in the last thread, the pitching staff is in the top 5 since the break. the offense however is near the bottom 5 since the break.

and tonight was just disappointing. Only giving up 2 runs and the offense cant do shit.

Rain shorted game in Detroit gives the Tigers their second straight loss and the Indians couldn't capitalize on it.

I also just read the Indians put in a claim for Kendrys Morales.

The Braves cornered the market in pitchig and timely hitting last night. The combination of the two was what was lacking for the Tribe. The Indians just couldn't string together hits.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I absolutely can not stand watching Carlos Santana catch and call a game. He is so lazy behind the plate it is disgusting. But watching last night, my biggest problem with him is how bad he seems to be at calling games. Case in point, the 2-out, 2-run double Salazar gave up to Johnson w/ the pitcher on deck. Salazar had him down in the count and was throwing nothing but fastballs. Salazar has an OUTSTANDING changeup, but hadn't gotten a feel for it because he hadn't thrown it what seemed like all inning. on 1-2, they call for the change, and Salazar leaves it up for a ball. Before that pitch, Johnson had fouled 2 outside fastballs straight back. So instead of going with another change, Santana calls for another fastball away. Why give in, in that situation??? Just blows my mind that Gomes isn't catching every night w/ Santana at 1B or DH.

Morales would be a huge pick up! Hopefully we can get it done

Only giving up 2 runs and the offense cant do ****.
...another good pitching performance wasted. That is what is disconcerting about tonite's game....Masterson could pitch a gem and still lose.
  • Laley23
Sucks that they lost, and the braves are slightly weakened right now. But, outside of the dodgers, lets remember we are playing the best team in baseball in their park. 1-2 would be a good series, honestly.
