Reds @ Padres...Game 1

People don't realize how great a season Latos is having as blown saves are killing his W/L record.

Leake's like Locke of Pittsburgh, where the ERA is a lot better than the peripherals. With that said, both of tend to give good starts time-in and time-out and have the record and ERA to prove it. Bailey might have better stuff, better peripherals and better potential, but his consistency is not there to where you feel you can count on him to give a good showing pretty much whenever he takes the mound.

Guess it'd come down to whether you think your offense can back up a 6 2/3 IP, 2 ER sort of performance or if you want to gamble you'll get eight shutout innings instead of 4 IP, 6 ER from the inconsistent guy.

Cozart lucky he caught that soft liner earlier rather than having to throw it to first. Is his hip causing bad throws?

Well the Reds have 4 runs in the last 38 innings and have shown time and time again against elite pitchers/teams, the struggle to score more than 1 or 2.

That's why I figure, as you said, if you're only going to score 1 or 2, gamble for the guy with a chance to dominate and if he blows up and allows 5 or 6 runs, big deal. You lose 7-2...

Jeff Locke, Travis Wood and Mike Leake. 3 guys who are absolutely defying the odds this year...

    Hits/9 - 8.34

Numbers don't lie. Bailey, overall, has been better than Leake. Leake's vastly overachieving this year and I'm not sure any Reds fan can disagree with me. His ERA, is simply a statistical anomaly right now.
Not sure it's fair to say Leake is overachieving. He came straight into the Majors and has been pretty damn good. Leake don't have nasty stuff, but the dude gets it, and knows how to pitch.

    Jack Hannahan sucks.

That is why the team that is hot does so well in the play-offs, not what team had the best regular season.

Hey, maybe MLB will let the Cubs, Padres, Giants, Mets and Marlins in the playoffs. The Reds should easily win the NL against those offenses.

This...THIS we can all agree on.

    Bad feelings on Chappy.

You guys wouldn't like me as manager. I would've used Chappy in the 10th yesterday and seeing Hoover look so good in the 8th, let him also go for the close.

Izturis and Hannahan couldn't hit hs pitching right now.
  • Azubuike24
Does Puig go yard on Aroldis?
  • Terry_Tate
Jack Hannahan, a 33 year old utility player with a career .233 batting average has a 2 year deal with the Reds. Unbelievable.

  • Azubuike24
Could there be a worse ending?

Yonder Alonso works a leadoff walk. Chris Denorfia hits a walk off.

    See you guys tomorrow.
  • Midstate01
    If chapman blows this....
  • Midstate01
And he does. To mother fucking denorfia. Lol
  • se-alum
And you guys are talking about playoff pitching rotations...lol!
  • Midstate01
Lol martys call was great. Its gone and the reds just keep on losing.
  • se-alum
Also, this is what happens when you don't get your closer work. Pitching every 4 days doesn't cut it.

.at least after this weekend and getting destroyed by the cards we can start moving on to football.
