MLB: Trade Deadline Thread

I'd like the Reds to get some guy that plays his tail off, battles at the plate and is not a "good guy".....probably some Dominican type player. Angel Pagan type.

Think McCallister was talking about Manny Ramirez, but but then he was picked up by I think Texas, and I think I read texas was unsure if they were going to bring him up. REds needs someone to ignite some energy into this team. BP usually is the guy who does this but he is slumping and hasn't done much since his latest kid was born....

From what I heard, in AAA, Manny looks more like a 41-year-old trying to play than he does Manny, which is why Texas probably isn't bringing him up.

Hearing about Pirates in the mix for Bud Norris. To which the only thing I'd want to say is "WHY???". Team needs offense, particularly in right field, first base or second base (as the best thing you can really say about anyone playing any of those positions is that Gaby Sanchez does okay when kept to a STRICT lefty platoon). But a pitcher who, at best, would be equal-ish to Charlie Morton (whom I'd consider to be the weakest of their current five-man rotation) doesn't really make sense. Especially if they're thinking of trading Tyler Glasnow (super-great prospect at A-ball) for him. Fuck that.

In more realistic stuff, apparently the White Sox are interested in AA player Alex Dickerson. Using him to get Rios or Ramirez would be cool, if the Sux are lowering their crazy-ass demands for those guys.

I want someone with fire....Manny is a bucket of water.

    Jerry Hairston with more ability.

True, wouldn't bring fire to the team. He would bring distractions but in the past he has hit so teams didn't care. He is washed up though, especially without being able to juice any longer

Don't like the trade. Iglesias has a lot of promise.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, Cleveland is working hard to get a starting pitcher.

And that was essentially all that was posted.

I'd take Homer, Leake, Cingrani for Cabby. But if he is dealt, I'd much prefer it to the Cards for 2 of their 4 stud Prospects on the mound.

I don't see the Tribe giving up their "all star" SS to improve the rotation. I do see them giving up a prospect for an upgrade in the rotation or stability for future years as they will lose Kazmir and Ubaldo next year.

You DO NOT help the Cards. Ever.

I keep seeing this on Twitter but don't understand it. Salazar, Bauer and Carrasco are all going to be ready to be in the rotation next year, and all 3 have the potential to be very good starters. Why give up a prospect(s) for another 4/5 when those guys are going to be ready? If we want a SP to have under team control, deal AsCab this offseason and roll with Aviles for half a year until Lindor is ready.

Do you mean all 3 of them or just 1?

They are not pursuing a 4/5 guy. They are looking for a borderline 1/2 starter.,cliff lee maybe?

I'd be shocked to see them take on a contract like that. Just hoping they don't make a move for a middle of the rotation guy. First time in a few years I'd be OK with them not making a move at the deadline and rolling the dice w/ the current roster down the stretch.

    1 of the 3.

All 3?.....I'm assuming any one of.

I just wasn't sure of what Indians fans thought of Cabrera.

I'd say no normally, cause we aren't sellers. But Aviles can play for 2 months and Lindor will supplant Cabrera by this time next year anyway. We can get more for him since has 1.5 years left as opposed to a rent a player next season
