That's what they should be looking for. It's their biggest weakness.

    This.

A decent prospect for Jose Veras. Haha. I remember seeing him in Columbus like 10 years ago. Shows what the trade market is.

Don't think I didn't immediately think of him as the unanimous opposite for this award.

I mean, I'd be totally cool with St. Louis trading the guy who arguably is the heart and soul of their team for a starter who's fallen from great to average/decent during the course of this year...I just don't see it happening.

Rumor floating around that the Tribe is getting Jake Peavy

And yeah...I am starting this rumor. I have no source and I don't even know if Peavy is pitching anymore.

    I blame

He is pitching. Mediocrely. Porcelain-Boy just got off the DL and would have given 7 good innings with 118 pitches, except for the 2-3 home runs he gave up during that outing. But with how teams aren't willing to trade right now, he might be the biggest and best name on the market. The White Sox are asking for A LOT.

Braves get lefty Scott Downs from the Angels for Cory Rasmus. Surprising deal, considering Downs is a lefty specialist with a 1.84 ERA this year. Rasmus is a 25-year old reliever who was up earlier this year, pitched in 3 games, allowed 6 runs and hasn't been up since. He's not at all a highly-regarded prospect.

Maybe prices are coming down a bit?

Angels are in full on sell mode. Plus anything to shed a little salary, theyre probably all for that.

Downs is a former UK guy. I would've liked to see the Reds snag him, but oh well. Not sure what he's making, but I can't imagine it was much of a salary dump. He's definitely been around. Seems strange considering I saw on Twitter yesterday that the Giants reportedly want an MLB ready SP they can put in their rotation for just Javier Lopez.

I think Downs is around 4 million

Just looked him up. Last year of a deal, owed 5M this year. That means Atlanta pays around 2M of that. Definitely reasonable.

I liked Pujols even tho he was a card, always liked Hamilton and great to see young talent come into the league (trout) but I do find it funny that the LAA are flopping. Any time a team goes on a big time spending spree and way, way overpays I instantly hope they collapse

Detroit didn't give up either corner outfield spot, castellejana (sp??) or Garcia, but #4 ranked prospect is still a hefty price for a reliever. Damn

I'm a huge Pence fan, mostly due to the Paleo following and contributions in the Bay Area. I know others can't stand him. Not sure how the salaries would work, but you would think just inquiring on him would indicate the Reds may be willing to add some payroll. Obviously they know he is already signed long-term...
  • Azubuike24
Correction, Pence is a FA. Maybe it's a get him and Choo and then discuss trying to retain either one? You would get compensation for either, and they will already likely get it for Arroyo.

I'm a huge Phil Mickelson fan because he eats the same stuff I do.

It's more about what he's done to promote the message.

I would like them to keep Choo, but doesn't he have one of those asshole agents that are going to be asking for the moon?
  • Dan Gilbert
Cleveland Indians are interested in Rockies left hand reliever Josh Outman. Not earth shattering statistics but he is a lefty.

Some say the asking price is too high right now, but the market has too many buyers for the price to drop before the deadline.

He does, and will be almost impossible to keep, unless the team is willing to up the payroll considerably.

Phil loves pizza....I love pizza....I love Phil. If he does a Donatos commercial, look out.
