And I don't blame swish for talking. I would too. Doesn't change the fact that it wasn't on purpose. Id guess if he was trying to hit him, swish talking only would have made him come back in there.

Had he thrown 3 straight like that there would have been a benches clearing brawl...

edit: which would have been awesome

I don't think Chapman liked the whole "stood at the plate and stare him down until the next pitch."

The 1-0 pitch was clearly a message.

The 2-1 hack by Swisher was an attempt to show him up.

Great drama for true baseball fans.

It is great drama until fans of one team get their butts hurt over it.

Rule of thumb in MLB. YOU dont throw 100MPH at a guys head. You wanna drill him? Anywhere but the head.

I look for the lead off batter for the Reds to get plunked tomorrow night.

I dont blame swish for talking at all after second one. Dont know why he stared at him after the first one. Guaranteed he was out watching him warm up and saw him air mail one then too. So you're surprised?

Not sure what the Tribe fans are upset over. There probably should've been a warning issued, but this was just 2 gamers battling it out. I hate the Tribe, but Swisher is a guy I'd have his back if I was a teammate. Chapman is maybe the most important piece for the Reds, everyone is going to defend him.

Apparently, for one of them, it's because he's racist as fuck lol

When the other team's closer closes it down 1,2,3...just call him a N*****

    lmao

I've gone back and watched it. Maybe he was trying to send message on 2nd pitch. I didnt Realize how much swish stared at him after the 1st pitch. No idea why though, it was high AND outside.

Exactly. The 1-0 was intentional. The stare after the 0-0 was completely unnecessary. How many times in his career has Chapman's first pitch been WAY out of the zone. Almost always.

Best part is its baseball. If indians want to retaliate, they can tomorrow. Its just another reason I love baseball. Polices itself more often then not.

    huh?

    ...and Choo leads off.

Perfect time to drill him in the ribs, add to his ungodly HBP numbers and move on.

Another rule of thumb is that if the wild pitcher can throw over 100 mph.....it's best not to potentially piss him off by staring towards him when the previous pitch wasn't close to hitting anything.

If Choo gets hit and Chapman is in the game later....there will be a batter that wished Choo hadn't been hit.

If any of the Indians fans have watched Chapman pitch it's not like he has the greatest accuracy in the world. There are times when he's pitching that he's not even close to the strike zone. Looked to me like the first one was just a bad wild pitch but it didn't help anything with Swisher staring back at him the whole time...the 2nd pitch was probably in between wild and don't look at me like that. But Swisher almost came back and knocked one out. Have a feeling tomorrow's going to be watched closely by the umpires from pitch #1

Fucking this! If Swisher just chalks that first one up as Chapman just being Chapman and doesn't try to show him up...he doesn't get buzzed. Plain and simple.

A buddy of mine put it best...if Votto gets hit tomorrow, Chapman may end up putting Cabrera on the DL.
  • vball10set
    post game presser with Swish:

reporter: "what you say to him (Chapman)?
    Swish: "I don't remember"
    reporter: "do you speak Spanish"
Swish: "hell yeah, my wife's Cuban"

    lol

You don't think a 100mph fastball to the head could potentially put someone on the DL?

I'd guess if chapman was trying to send a message after swish stared at him, that If they hit a red, that ends it. Usually retaliation doesn't keep going and going.
  • Midstate01
And I'd NEVER be in favor of hitting a player in the head. Ever. That's stupid and dangerous.

    Well except for Chris carpenter.

He has to hit 'em first :o
  • Terry_Tate
Wait, was the first one way outside and nowhere near Swisher? I was at a 90 degree angle to the pitches and thought it was just high. Lol if he got mad about that pitch.
