Sorry. Thought you meant what did my post mean. The lyrics of the song are pretty stupid. It's about a sailor that looses his leg and is going back to Boston to get a wooden leg.Ironman92;1434136 wrote:Never mind me....I'm too old to care what shipping up to get a wooden leg means.
People like the song for the music part...not for the lyrics. -

friendfromlowryNot much of a major story line from day one. A lot of linemen taken, a lot of Alabama players taken...the "popular" guys like Te'o, Barkley, and Smith will have to wait until day two.

sportchamppsI think the dude yelling stand up was yelling at a particular person

se-alumPersonally, I think Indy got a star w/ the 24th pick. I think Werner fits that team perfectly. He was my favorite player in this draft, just didn't fit the Browns needs in the 3-4.
-
friendfromlowryI wonder if Lacy will be there for the Bengals tomorrow evening and if they'll take him.

Indeed, I doubt many people who have heard the song (and anyone that's watched The Departed remembers it) know the lyrics. I've heard the song dozens of times and never caught what the guy was actually screaming.sherm03;1434140 wrote:Sorry. Thought you meant what did my post mean. Back to the draft, good to hear Kyle Long got his act together. #20 was probably a little high but he was on the road to nowhere a few years ago with his drinking. Dude is a beast, makes his brother Chris look small in comparison. -
IggyPride00How must Nassib feel right now?
His strong QB play is a big part of why Marone has the Bills job right now. Desperately needing a QB there was talk that he could be in play to them at 8. Then they trade back and take a QB who won't be ready to play anytime soon instead of him.
With the way NFL GM's are, that is easily the kind of thing I could see working against him with the other teams. After all, if his own college coach won't draft him when the team needs a QB, then how good a prospect can he really be?
Geno Smith is pissed from what I have read. He is refusing to come back to the draft tonight for round 2 even though ESPN invited him to do so. Wouldn't give an on air interview either.
For a guy who had big question marks about how he would handle adversity prior to the draft, he is not doing alot right now to inspire GM's that he is a guy you want to hitch your wagons to. -
cruiser_96No offense, but I chose not to read through the last 29 pages.
I'm wondering when was the last time a running back was NOT selected in the first round. (Of the NFL draft, for you smart alecs out there! ) -

It is the national championship game performance I think that just torpedoed his stock.like_that;1434201 wrote:LOL at Manti Te'o by the way.
Playing Alabama is about as close as you can simulate to playing NFL speed and he just looked freaking slow out there.
I don't think his off the field stuff matters to these teams one way or the other. It is the crappy Bama performance coupled with the slow 40 that threw up the red flags.
Someone will take him this round I think. -
AutomatikI didn't watch, but it seemed like an uneventful first round, which should make for a better 2nd and 3rd today. Or are there more?
I'm happy with Pittsburgh's pick, I did not think he would be around. I kinda wanted Eifert, but was surprised and happy with Jones....didn't think he'd slip that far.
Also, espn.com's draft coverage is fucking terrible. -

I agree. He just looked very slow and average against NFL caliber linemen (2 first round picks). There are players who come in the draft with far worse off field issues, but if they are good enough they still get drafted in the first round.IggyPride00;1434209 wrote:It is the national championship game performance I think that just torpedoed his stock.

Your owner is an idiot. I know the Browns have issues but only in NY would they let it leak that they "LOVE" Tavon Austin only to have the Rams leapfrog them and take their guy.justincredible;1434239 wrote:I hate the goddamn Jets. Yeah I was pretty upset about the pick last night... I would have rather them take Menelik Watson or Larry Warford. But I just wanted an Olineman to be picked and that's what I got so it's not too bad I guess at least they finally addressed their biggest need. I think it's the fact that the Cowboys only got an extra 3rd rounder out of it that I'm most upset about.Laley23;1434116 wrote:Lulz at the Cowboys.
LOL at Geno Smith being a little bitch though. Aww boohooo mommy they didn't pick me! I don't want to go back tomorrow!! -
bigdaddy2003I figured after watching his performance in the title game Te'o wouldn't be great but Ozzie Newsome skipping him at 32 cemented my thoughts.
