Troy said his tests were "encouraging" and that he feels fine. We'll see.

Good news. Just with him on the field should make the other dbs play better.

that article headline says he's not expected to return

but it sounds like Polamalu said it's up to the coaches and medical staff to clear him

It would be a great help to the Steelers but I hope for his sake he is actually ready to come back instead of playing because of the little hope of a playoff appearance.

I don't want them to be over cautious.

You have to play for this year as long as you're still alive and the Steelers are going into this weekend.

He could tweak something the first game of next season and be back in the same spot.

Don't play him if he's going to be hobbling all over the field but if he's healthy don't just rest him because it's almost the end of the season. It's not too late, as of now, to sneak into the playoffs and be a contending team.

So now I hear Troy may not play and Ed Reed may play. That is good news for the Ravens.

Funny how Polamalu might play now that Steelers won last week.

    Why is that funny?

Troy won't play unless we make the playoffs.

Baltimore is going to erase the Steelers playoff push lol.

sounds like he hasn't practiced and is out again

I don't think the circumstances of the season should dictate whether he plays or not and Tomlin has said as much

he'll return based on his own medical evaluation

to me, though, it sounds like he should be cleared to practice and test it out

Yea, I'll have to agree with you, it dont look good this week. But we have Joey Galloway now.:P
  • Al Capone
They could be saying things to throw Baltimore off. Its been done before, but usually if you dont practice you dont play. With that said I wouldn't be shocked if he plays Sunday.

Friday is the big day for veterans to practice if they're going to play

but since he's coming off the injury I think he'll have to practice a full week

I think he'll play against Miami if they're still in it
  • Non
but you'd hate for them to lose this one if he might make a big difference

especially if he's going to be on the practice field next week

saw that Townsend will start in place of William Gay

Gay has been exploited over and over, might as well try somebody else
  • Al Capone
I've got to think that if he's able to run he will be out there Sunday. Hopefully the coach is just blowing smoke.
  • Al Capone
Have you noticed how many times Gay has fell down the last 3 weeks. Townsend has to be a better choice than Gay.
  • Non
Townsend usually holds his own. I would think maybe they could've done this earlier. Gay is probably younger and faster and those things but he hasn't really made any plays so Townsend just playing sound football would be good enough.
  • Non
either way this is going to be the Steelers last home game and maybe Townsend's last game, I kind of like giving him the start
  • Al Capone
Could be alot of guys last home game. Hampton? Parker? Clark?
  • bigdaddy2003
As a Ravens fan I'm torn about the situation. Obviously I would be happy if Troy didn't play but I also want both teams to be as healthy as possible so if Baltimore wins there isn't any excuses from the Steelers fans.

    well, Tennessee is getting dumped

Steelers need a lot to happen Sunday

    at 1 p.m.

    Pittsburgh win over Baltimore
    New England win over Jacksonville
    Miami win over Houston

    at 4 p.m.

    Indianapolis win over N.Y. Jets
    Philadelphia win over Denver
  • Non
In terms of priority I'd say Denver losing is No. 1 besides the Steelers winning.

Denver plays Kansas City in Week 17 and they're not going to lose to another chump team at home after losing to the Raiders. If they beat Philly the Steelers are done.

Jacksonville is next since they play at Cleveland in Week 17.

N.Y. Jets still play Cincinnati and Houston plays New England. Those teams might not be at their best in Week 17 but still would be formidable with at least some of their main guys. It would be great if all those chips fall, but these would be the best to leave for Week 17.

Do they need all of that to happen or just some of it?
  • bigdaddy2003
^ I'm pretty sure they need the majority of it to happen.
