Tribe hires Terry Francona

BR1986FBPer ESPN Cleveland. Sandy Alomar takes over as interim manager. Should've fired Daddy No Bucks Dolan....
No shocker here -

Now if they can get rid of Shapiro and andouche it would be 20x better -
queencitybuckeyeLousy team, fire the manager, pretend management is doing something.
-
Classyposter58Acta IMO is a great manager. The fact this team was even remotely competitive through mid-summer is a testament to him
-
OQBThey need to do a clean sweep of the front office before I even get excited about the Indians again...
-
BR1986FB
Yeah....they are pretty much banned by me until Dolan is gone. If that means I never watch a Tribe game again, whatever. I won't follow a team that is INTENTIONALLY trying to lose.OQB;1281531 wrote:They need to do a clean sweep of the front office before I even get excited about the Indians again... -
BRFI'm glad Acta is gone, but I'm with the rest of you........keep going higher up on the house cleaning.

Unfortunately he lost this team after the ASG this year and it spiraled out of control.
No manager will succeed under this front office, so it will be interesting to see which shitcanned AA manager they end up finding to take this dead end position -

My best guess is alomar will be the manager -

If not Alomar, Who would Everyone like to see brought in to manage the team?Crimson streak;1281549 wrote:My best guess is alomar will be the manager -
like_thatI like Alomar, but I would feel bad if he took over the manager position with the current state of this franchise.

This. I would love for him to stay, but i think if another job opened up that wasn't as hopeless he would at least attempt to go after that. The last place a new manager should go to build their stock is Cleveland, and Alomar knows it, regardless of how loyal he is.
I figure some dumbass minor league manager that has no idea of the system he is entering is the best bet. Or dumbass Bobby V because he interviewed last time, and if he gets canned his stock will you be low (so he will cone cheap) but Dolan will want the drama to drive up ticket sales without having to pay players or perform better. -

I agree, I haven't watched the Indians play since June, and don't plan on watching or going to a game until they put a winning product onto the field!! -
OQBAnyone else hear the press conference from antonetti?
Basically said the new manager has to get this current roster to play better...these players have to start playing better.
The sad thing is without changing the roster and getting real MLB baseball players on this team, it doesn't matter who the manager is. -

ricolano problem with this move, but what is the purpose/significance of showing Acta the door NOW? what--with 6 games to go in the season. You sat on your hands all july and august as this team essentially quit, gave new meaning to the term losing, and now with 6 games left in the season, coming off 2 wins of the division leading/challenging white Sox, we decide NOW is the time to make a change? Guessing Manny must have said/done something akin to asking to be let go--or asking about next season's plans or something to bring this about.
But agree with the majority here, unless house cleaning continues with the exit of Shaponetti (which i HIGHLY doubt cheapskate Dolan would proceed with) this means/helps nothing. -
MulvaAlready been reported that Shapiro and Antoinetti both keep their jobs. I won't be watching the Indians next year.
I'll check the box scores, but other than that I'm not wasting my time. -

He was a horrible manager. Always has been a horrible manager.Classyposter58;1281528 wrote:Acta IMO is a great manager. The fact this team was even remotely competitive through mid-summer is a testament to him -
ricolaif that indeed is the case---and see no reason to think otherwise---it'll be interesting to see how diminished the fan support will be next year. Even this year when they were competing early on it sucked--if they come out slow progressive Field will be a big lonely quiet place through the summer----which personally wouldn't bother me a bit.

ricolashould have made this announcement at kickoff of the Browns game. No one would have even noticed for a couple days as they would all be talking about how they hate shurmur, etc.
-
TBone14They should back up a Brink's truck to Terry Francona's house and let him name his price.
The players on this team have proven they are capable of winning games over the course of months. They need someone who can teach these guys how to win over the course of a season. Not some youngster manager who is learning right along with them. -
BR1986FB
Same here but I won't watch them until Dolan sells or dies. If there's a succession plan for his kids to take over they may be banned for life unless they start opening up the checkbook (fat chance).Mulva;1281706 wrote:Already been reported that Shapiro and Antoinetti both keep their jobs.
