  Exactly. In Duke's 77 to 67 victory in Baton Rouge over Shaq's LSU Tigers in '92, Laettner went for 22, 10 and 3 and completely took Shaq out of the game when the Blue Devils had the ball. Superman was irrelevant defensively as he was no match for Laettner's versatility on the perimeter. Their NBA stories are obviously different. Shaq went on to become a top-five all-time center in the history of professional basketball, just behind Chamberlain, Jabbar, Russell and Olajuwon. Pretty good company.
  
  While Laettner didn't go on to do that, arguably the greatest college basketball player of the '90s wasn't exactly a nothing. Over 12 years in the League, he averaged 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per, and was an All-Star in 1997. "Christ," as some came to call him, averaged 18 points a game as a rookie for the Timberwolves and eclipsed that mark again during his all-star campaign in '97, before injuries relegated him to supporting-cast status.
