Most Overrated player in sports history?

  • sleeper
Can it be anyone other than Allen Iverson?

The guy is trash and chucks more than Kobe. He couldn't even stay in the league past 30 or so because he didn't want to ride the bench on the Bobcats.
  • sleeper
Plus he ruined basketball for everyone else. All these cats you see running around the gym try to be like AI; chuck a bunch of shots up that go in 1/50 times, never pass the ball, and never play defense.
  • bigdaddy2003
I think he was older than 30 when he last played.
  • Commander of Awesome
Terry Bradshaw and Joe Namath come to mind for me.

    Good point. He's still trash.

I'll go Joe Namath for sure.

Good call on this. Both were mediocre QB's who made the HOF due to their rings.

42.5% FG shooter. One season he shot 38% from the field. 31% 3-point shooter.

The guy is a chucker and pure trash. Never won a championship, never played defense. Overrated garbage.

The guy average 25 shots per game. What a joke. LOL

You have to be a good 3pt shooter to be a great player? News to me.

He was a good off ball defender and singled handedly carried that 76ers team to the NBA finals.

    11x All star
    League MVP
    4x Scoring champion
3x steals leader(he doesnt play defense though)
    3x 1st team all nba
    3x 2nd team all nba
    Rookie of the year

    Damn hes overrated :/

    Troy Aikman comes to mind.

    61.5% completion
    165 TD
    141 INT
    32,942 yards

Average season for Aikman was 2,745 yards, 14 TD, 12 INT. He succeeded because the amount of talent around him was ridiculous.

Thanks for posting his fraud trophies. Isn't that by definition overrated? In that he was rated highly but his results were piss poor in reality. You don't have to be a great 3-point shooter to be a great player, but 42.5% and 25 shots a game is an absolute joke.

Lol Idk why I even bother responding to you sometimes. You just get bored and troll to bait people in and I fell for it. Oh well

I think you are more upset that your favorite player never won a championship and chucked his way to stardom.

    Another good one.

Although not one of the "great" QB's of all time, Bernie Kosar is pretty overrated in the eyes of many Browns fans.

Eli Manning deserves an honorable mention.

    Lynn Swann

Hard to label Greg Oden. He's definitely a bust, but you have to wonder the "what if" he didn't get hurt. As such, I reject your opinion.

Yeah, in order to be "overrated", I'd think there would be an implication by some, or many, that the player was actually good or great. Oden & Leaf were neither. Now they might have been "overhyped" coming into the league.
