On the college level, I'd say Adam Morrison was pretty extravagantly hyped. The 2006 Chevy Player of the Year now lives in Turkey, where he also plays basketball. I think the Great Redick-Morrison Debate of Huddle lore has officially been settled, and that J.J. Redick rightfully deserved the Wooden, Naismith and Rupp trophies that he won.

How they have performed (or didn't) in the pros has no bearing on who deserved college awards. Morrison had a far better overall game tham Johnny One-Note and deserved every award he received and some he didn't get.

Leave it to a Duke fan to crap out a dishonest argument. Most overrated "top" school in the country.

What about Jimmer Fredette? Aka white Kobe

Well, as noted above, the most prestigious award Morrison received in 2006 was given to him by Chevy auto parts, so I agree that Adam thoroughly deserved that one. (He was also given co-player of the year status along with J.J. from the basketball writers.)

J.J. was far from a "one-trick pony" as a senior at Duke. By 2005-06, he had developed a well-rounded offensive game with a multitude of ways to score the basketball. Always a dominant scorer from distance, J.J. honed his skills over his final two seasons in Durham to become one of the most efficient players in the country at penetrating the defense for either a mid-range finish or to draw a foul and earn a trip to the line. He was deceptively crafty and simply understood how to put points on the board.

Also, J.J.'s defensive game, while never Chris Duhon-esque, increased measurably over the course of his career, especially as a help defender and reading passing lanes. As evidenced by his 52 steals as a senior, an increase of nearly 30 compared to his freshman year.

I would say Casey Kotchman hands down. Truly the antiGOAT.

Loved Scottie Pippen. One of my favorite players of all time. Back when the NBA was fun to watch.

Thanks for sharing. As you and I (and most NBA fans from the '90s) know, sonofanump is mistaken in his opinion of Scottie to a very high degree.

excuse me while I LOL. Glad to know you know little about basketball/NBA. You'd then know he's 6'11" and doesnt have much size advantage (if any on a given night). Dude's a beast, but shoots poor FT% and is a monster on def/boards. LOL, thanks need the lolz. IPOTW.

His size advantage is in his strength and pure athletism. He is a monster on the boards and defenseively but he has no offensive game. He has no touch anywhere near the rim. If he developed one or two post moves he could one of the greatest ever. His offensive right now is the Dunk and thats it. Instead he dominates the league during a time when the other centers are weak. He also is a terriable passer and has a low basketball iq. He turns over the ball a lot. He could be a Shaq type of offensive player. Instead look at his numbers. In 2010 he put up almost the exact same stats as David Lee of the Knicks. Is David Lee a Superstar? He has done nothing in the postseason but is always being hyped. You cant give the ball to Hoard with the game on the line because you can just hack him. I dont want my superstar to be a liabitliy on offense with the game on the line. Other strong centers like Kendrick Perkins or Bynum can play Dwight one on one with no problem. BTW I'm not the only one who thinks this. Here are a few NBA writers saying exactly what I am. Glad to know you know nothing about the NBA and buy into the hype that comes with Howard.

What are you considering Dwight Howard to be if you're overrating him? I mean he's an All-NBA center. If you think he's overrated, what rating are you putting him up against? Sounds kinda stupid.

LOL, it's been awhile since I have seen a IPOTW. Glad to see it back, it was much deserved too.

Uh Dwight Howard averages 20-15 a game. How is that overrated? I'd say Tebow easily

Aside from skip bayless who has Tebow rated highly? Unless you are talking about his college career which would just be a ridiculous statement.

Have to agree. He is easily the best center in the league. Bynum? A couple monster games doesnt give you the throne. When Dwight is healthy and not being a bitch, he is the best. This past season, his PPG and RPG were both higher than his career averages.

You don't give the ball to him in crunch time because you can just foul him? Hmm, surely I am not the only one who remembers "Hack-a-Shaq". The difference is Dwight probably doesn't have the offensive game Shaq does, but his defense is far superior. Also, Dwight has never had a a Kobe to play a long with.

Did you really just try and compare David Lee to Howard? Excuse me while I LMAO. David Lee plays in a high octane offense that shoots the ball about 7 sec into the shot clock, thus enabling more pts and rebound opportunity. He was in a similar offense in NY as well. Also I don't recall anyone (I'm sure you'll find another BS bleacher report "article" to contradict this, can't wait) claiming Lee as best center or MVP. Hell he didn't even make the fucking all star team. Dwight Howard scores 20 pts a game, about same as Lee, without an offensive game, which you claim he lacks. Nice fail
