Reds vs Brewers....Game 1

  • Ironman92
The last 2 NL MVPs square off. Votto is the clear leader at this point....Braun is top 3 again.

Believe what we want....gonna face him 13 or 14 times the next 3 days and cheating or not (everything said he did last year...well almost, but you know he's being watched and tested this year and he's throwing up the same numbers) he's one of the best players in the game.

Need to win this series for some momentum going out west.
  • Ironman92
This team kinda goes about regardless of momentum.

No doubt, they sweep back to back series, then lose 5 of the next 6, including being swept. Momentum doesn't mean much to this team.

Latos needs to step it up.

Did Joey lose the handle on the bunt by Morgan? Looked like he had a better than even chance to throw him out at first, to BP, but he held on to the ball!

I don't know if he bobbled it, but to me it didn't look like BP was at the bag in time.

    Reds lose 6-4.

Ohhhh I forgot my obligatory "Scott Rolen sucks" comment.

Scotty should be playing Single A ball. GTFO.

Every time I watch Latos I get disgusted. Shades of Edinson for Hamilton. Latos needs to pick it up
  • Midstate01
Pirates are down 3-0, phillies still batting in the 1st.
  • mhs95_06
Dusty loves speed, even if it is ill advised running when it doesn't know where the ball is!

Except Yonder is hitting about .250, and had no position on the Reds. I don't see the trades as remotely similar.

22 straight strikes for Latos. That's pretty crazy.

    Grandal?
  • mhs95_06
After the first two batters of the game reached, and he was facing Braun, Latos has retired 9 in a row on 31 pitches, striking out 6 of the 9. And since he retired Braun and Ramirez with two on, he has not thrown a ball!
  • mhs95_06
After the 8 and 9 hitters reach on a double and single, yet another failure to get an RBI with runner on 3rd and less than two out! Reds waiting around - should have taken the lead there!

Also could have dealt those players for something else? Alonso and Grandal both had good value... Hence why they were able to get Latos. Latos has always been kind of a head case. Was hoping the trade would 'mature' him.

Playing AAA right now, and also had no position on the Reds team. We traded two unproven prospects who had no position to play on the big club, for a pitcher that had proven stats. This trade was the complete opposite of the Hamilton trade.

Double by Stubbsy, walk by the GOAT, sac bunt by datdude, double by Brucey.

Amazing how good Latos can be when he attacks the strike zone.

Yea that's also when he gives up those 4 run innings. Honestly, throwing that many strikes in a row just seems like a horrible idea. It did work though so I can't complain much.
