Reds vs Twins...Game1

  • Ironman92
Family is headed for a college visit to UC and then off to the Reds game.

I was at the best game of the season...hopefully this one won't be the worst.

honest question - does every game need a thread? Why not make a series thread or a reds thread?
  • Rotinaj
Lol a just Reds thread would be ar least like 250 pages by now. This is the pro sports forum that's full of Reds fans. That is why game threads are needed.

Game threads are definitely needed...shows how awesome of fans we are

So instead of a season thread or a series thread - you have 162 separate threads...logical. Whatever, just wondering why you need 162 separate threads.

We get a lot of traffic (okay, it's actually just I92 posting 80% of the time, but still...) on every Reds game, especially weekday games. So we just create a new game thread so we can have pre and post game talk on it as well.

It's not like the game threads are bumping anything relevant off the 1st page. Not sure what the big deal is?
  • Ironman92
I can start one for each inning.

I cannot believe someone cares whether it's a continuous thread or one game at a time.
  • Ironman92
Or we can just have 1 big thread making up the entire forum....we can call it Pro Sports.

    Because we can.

Need to win 2 of 3. Can't let the Pirates catch up! Votto and Bruce both go yard and the Reds win 6-4.

And I catch both HR in row 4 of section 143

Tonight starts a stretch of 17 games in 17 days that ends with the all-star break. It is very important to do well in the the first 6 homes games because the next 11 are on the left coast, a typically swooning trip for the Reds over the years. What are the odds the Reds will still be in first place at the break? The Pirates already had their big trip out there in April, only 9 games and with Az instead of SD - they went 3-6.

Nice that Span's shot up the middle hit the slope of the mound to take some juice off it as Cozart makes the play for the lead-off hitter to be retired.

    Heisey!!!

I really like this lineup, minus Scotty in for Frazier.
  • mhs95_06
Willingham thankful that Heisey's drive falls in the LF seats rather than a more embarrassing spot on the grass! 2-0 Reds after two batters.

Especially with Carroll's double clutch on the throw, BP would have avoided another DP if he hustles a bit!
  • wildcats20
Yeah, that DP is on BP. He runs hard out the gate, he is safe.

A lead-off single, a key well placed blooper, a productive out net the Twins a run to make it 2-1 and Homer up to 41 pitches in just 2 innings.
  • mhs95_06
Blackburn gets the bottom 3 in the Reds order on 7 pitches and now has 30, 11 fewer than Homer.
  • mhs95_06
Both Cozart and Votto have a propensity for making off balance throws when they have already lost their feet and are losing their balance again. Cozart's latest effort at that results in an extra base which costs Homer the tying run.

    Rolen
  • wildcats20
Holy shit. I hope he is OK. Wow.
  • gerb131
That ump took one to the dome. Surprised he walked off.
  • wildcats20
I have never seen that happen before.

The bat hit him and he just went down. Really hard to believe he got up and walked off moments later. Wow.
