that's not what I was trying to say, not trying to make a big deal of it, it just irks me when they say this stuffhoops23;1163595 wrote:Put PBF in the octagon, he loses. Put a MMA fighter in the ring against Floyd and he loses.
You're trying to pick a fight between MMA and boxing and nobody is even bringing anything like that up.
That's like picking beef against a baseball announcer because he called a baseball athlete the best player in the world... Would you hold beef with him over that in regards to comparing him to NFL or NBA players? lol. -

I agree that the MMA-Boxing argument is stupid, but this isn't quite analogous. The announcers said he was "the best fighter on the planet," which is different from "best boxer." It's be more equivalent to calling a baseball player the "best athlete." It's nothing to get worked up about, but it is technically wrong.hoops23;1163595 wrote:That's like picking beef against a baseball announcer because he called a baseball athlete the best player in the world... Yes it is, but boxing isn't the sport of fighting, it's the sport of punching. That's what I was trying to say, how can you call him the best fighter on the planet if he only boxes. Again no big deal, just irks me.Hb31187;1163596 wrote:Its apples to oranges. Like comparing a Marathon runner to Usain Bolt. 2kool4skoolVegas offering lines on a hypothetical PBF-Pacquaio fight again. Can't they please offer a line on whether the fight takes place in the next year? I'll gladly pound that bet like it's Mayweather's girlfriend tonight.

Everytime I've seen a fight, it's usually been straight punching. We all grew up to naturally protect ourselves with our hands. Fights in school were always blow for blow. Nobody was doing triangle chokes or head kicks.robj55;1163612 wrote:Yes it is, but boxing isn't the sport of fighting, it's the sport of punching. MMA is a true trained fighting sport. Boxing is still fighting, it's just not MMA.
I enjoy both immensely, but honestly, a big time boxing match is still a bit more prestigious to me than an MMA one. Just the environment, aura, and history. -
robj55I don't ever see the fight happening, sad what boxing has come to when the two best won't even fight each other. Everyone would really like to see it.

Yep. The politics in the sport have really hurt it. Guys like Bob Arum who are out for their own greed are sucking the sport dry for their own personal gain.robj55;1163617 wrote:I don't ever see the fight happening, sad what boxing has come to when the two best won't even fight each other. Fair points, they don't even compare to me but I won't hate on what you prefer. Take a guy like Jose Aldo, highly skilled in all the martial arts, Floyd is only trained in the sport of boxing(punching). If they were to get in an actual fight it wouldn't even be close, I would feel bad for Floyd. That was my point when it comes to people calling him the best FIGHTER on the planet, he's just not. I have no problem with people calling him one of the best boxers on the planet because he is and has earned that honor and recognition.hoops23;1163616 wrote:Everytime I've seen a fight, it's usually been straight punching. se-alumI agree with sherm, boxing is dead, and quite a joke at this point.

Bob Arum is a fat greedy pig. People like him are the reason the sport is where it is.hoops23;1163618 wrote:Yep. The politics in the sport have really hurt it. Guys like Bob Arum who are out for their own greed are sucking the sport dry for their own personal gain. -

All Manny has to do is agree just as every other fighter PBF has fought has. Oh, and Manny needs to rid of Bob Arum or it'll never happen.killer_ewok;1163636 wrote:Actually, he is.

It's one fight...so sure Manny can agree to it just like every other fighter PBF has fought. But at the same time, it's one fight...so PBF can forget about the stipulation and go with the regular drug testing policies just like every other fighter Pac has fought.hoops23;1163649 wrote:All Manny has to do is agree just as every other fighter PBF has fought has.
