Reds Expos game 2

  • dave
Lets see how many long balls Bronson can give up to the Nats.
  • Rotinaj
Probably 3 solo dingers. Hopefully the reds can do something at the plate today.

    Not a great offensive lineup

    Stubbs CF
    Valdez SS
    Votto 1B
    Rolen 3B
    Bruce RF
    Ludwick LF
    Harris 2B
    Hanigan C

True, but Arroyo will give up 9 in 2 1/3 innings.

Pretty even game so far. Both pitchers get two outs on 3 or 4 pitches then go to 3-2 counts on 5 pitches to the #3 hitters. Difference was Arroyo got Zimmerman out on the 7th pitch while Zimmermann walked Votto on the 8th pitch, but got Rolen out on the 2nd pitch after that. Arroyo leads the pitch count battle 10 to 14 after one inning.

Arroyo gives up a 4 pitch walk in the 2nd and now trails in PC 26-25. Still 0-0 score.

Bronson pretty much has a no hitter in the bag.

Yeah, Right! After 3, 0-0 score, Arroyo leads PC 36-46. Looked like the Reds might score in their half of the 4th when Zimmerman's scrambling stop and wild looking throw that I thought may be an overthrow amazingly came down right on first base for the 3rd out.

    Nice jinx, bastard!

Now a test for Arroyo with Zimmerman's lead-off double over Stubb's head in the 4th.

    2 lazy plays by Ludwick..
  • mhs95_06
Ludwick would have had Zimmerman if he would have prepared himself for the possibility that he would try to advance before he caught the ball. The slight hesitation for hime to realize he was going was all it took for a perfect throw to be late!

Correction, one out double! The biggest factor in Arroyo getting out of it was LaRoche biting on the 3-1 pitch and popping it up.

Need hanigan to do what he's best at here.. Not striking out and moving the runner over
  • Midstate01
Arroyo gets the sac fly!! 2 nice at bats from arroyo!

He did, and Bronson made good contact again, this time for a SF to take a 1-0 lead! Then Stubbs does what Stubbs does, to end the inning!
  • mhs95_06
After 5 Arroyo leads in PC 66-70, and more more importantly in score, 1-0.

Base-running challenged Joey Votto makes a bad decision to end the Red's half of the 6th! In fairness though, the inning isn't very promising if Joey doesn't get picked off. But if the 2nd baseman can't catch it on the fly, but but picks it up on the first hop he gets the FO at 2nd anyway, but if Joey plays it like he did and that happens, Joey is likely credited with great base running to have 1st and 2nd and just one out!

Big inning for Arroyo in the 6th, starting thru the order for the 3rd time.
  • mhs95_06
Will Arroyo get LaRoche to bite on something again for an out, or will he take the walk?
  • Azubuike24
Get through the 7th and Bronson did his job.

    Chapman
    Marshall
    Ballgame

The 7th worries me though. Werth leading it off...
  • mhs95_06
Surprised LaRoche didn't clobber that 1-1 slider curving right into the middle of the plate hip high, then he gets out of it on a check swing hopper to Rolen. Thru 6, PC tied at 81, and Reds lead 1-0.
  • Azubuike24
Meanwhile the Reds making it easy for Jordan Zimmermann...

lol, anyone remember that Cubs game from a year or two ago where they couldn't make a play?
