Zwick hates tiger so much. It's funny when he plays well.
  • Ironman92
So he shouldn't get credit for a shot he couldn't make again with another 1,000 balls....when he had to have it?

Seems like pretty big stuff to me.

He will not win the Open. Won't be too close.

Durkie is referring to Kobe, but I'm sure you already knew that.

    .
Zwick's logic is reversed. If it's a shot that can't be made in a 1000 shots, and Tiger holes it when he has to, it makes it even MORE impressive, not less as Zwick is trying to imply.

Nope.. still makes it lucky. He's playing better, but nowhere near what he used to. I knew it would bring the fanboys out of the woodwork though.

I give it about as much credit as hitting a hole in one. It was a nice shot but luckier than anything, and you can't build upon it. You can't say..wow he's back after it

    That we can agree on.

There was a landing area about double the size of a golfball to land....he was a short distance away and landed it there. I call bullshit on your 1/1000 call but we'll never know. But I say he runs the ball within 3 inches of either side of the hole 1/4 time and 1/10th of the time he gets the distance good enough for the ball to fall into the cup.

How many great shots are made up of some degree of luck....most of them and Mr. Masters agrees. It only lessens it to haters.

There is no way that shot is made 10% of the time. Id say he may get within a foot 10% of the time.

Why would he bring up Kobe in a golf thread unless he is just trolling...oh wait.

Because you are a hypocrite in your love of Kobe/hatred of Tiger.

Why does tiger have to play like tiger from 5-10 years ago to be back?? He's had a great year, he's 4th in the standings even after missing 2 cuts. He tied jack 10 years earlier then jack did it.

Tiger probably will never be what he once was, but that doesn't mean he can't still be the best golfer on tour. He's finally adjusting to his swing changes and getting back the confidence that he had prior to all the injuries and the scandal. I do think it'll be tough for him to break Jack's record of 18 majors simply because as he continues to age, his knees will still be a problem for him. However, if he stays relatively healthy, and wins another major sometime soon, I'm not gonna rule it out. Jack didn't win major #15 until he was 38. Tiger has the rest of this season and next season to win one and stay on pace.

Tiger is probably gonna shatter just about every one of Jack's records, but unless he wins 19 majors he won't be able to solidify himself as the greatest ever. Personally, I think Woods is the most talented player ever, but he needs the numbers to leave no doubt. We'll see if he can get there.

And I'd love to see him win the US Open this year, but it probably won't happen. I think he'll play well though.

Considering that Luke Donald who has yet to win a Major has been the #1 ranked golfer for almost a year, tells you all you need to know about Tigers competition.

Hard to compare talent to the different era's. I find it hard to believe someone was more talented than Bobby Jones.

Lol ok. Whatever you say man. It was a routine chip. 3 inches 1/4 times. Sure thing.

Have to laugh at all the ESPN gurus who for a couple years now have laid claim that Toger was done, Especially after he missed a cut earlier this year.

The shot on 16 was really, really good....a lot tougher than Boo's duck hook onto the green at the Masters this year in sudden death. It was a miracle that it went in....just like his boomerang shot on 16 at the Masters several years ago.

Routine my ass. His lie was horrible which made his shot almost impossible.

Sooo every chip in is luck?

Did I say that? When the ball creeps down a mountain...wiggle-wagging in every direction...and then falls in at the last second...then there is quite a bit of luck involved. Jack called it the greatest shot ever at his tournament...and as he put it..."just getting it close" was the feat.

Never said 10%.....I gave a 1/4 on getting the direction within 4 inches each way and a 1/10 on getting the distance close enough for the ball to drop. Is that 1/40?
