espn Friday Night Fights 2012

Hulk SmashFNF is stopping in Vegas this week with super bantam weights headlining the show.
Teon Kennedy(17-1-1) vs Chris Martin(23-1-2)
Both fighters lost their last fight, very rare for an FNF headliner.
http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=632503
Not sure which fights are scheduled for tv.
Four unbeaten prospects on the undercard. If the recent FNF trend continues at least one of them will get beat tonight, FNF has not been safe for prospects the last few years. -
HereticThese guys in the main...they like action, right? I'll probably watch it, but if it's going to be another defensive snoozer, I won't.
-
Hulk SmashDidja catch the show Heretic?
I just got around to watching it tonight.
Kennedy and Martin didn't disappoint , the fight was pretty much what Teddy said it would be.
Good fight, I had Kennedy up 96-94 but don't have a problem with the fight being called a draw. Most of the rounds were close and both guys come out looking like they just had their ass kicked by somebody.
Solid fight, niether of their careers took a step backwards despite the draw, wouldn't be surprised to see them in a rematch later this year.
No FNF next week. -
HereticI caught the main event. It was a good fight. Fun to watch. I thought Kennedy won a close one too, but the draw didn't surprise me. And, yeah, I think those two will be heading for a rematch. Both had lost coming into this fight and there wasn't a winner, so they'll need another to see which one moves forward and which one steps back.

Hulk SmashFNF is in Airway Heights, Washington this week with a few face-first brawlers on the schedule.
Ruslan Provodnikov(20-1) vs David Torres(21-2-2) in the headliner.
Ji-Hoon Kim(22-7) vs Yakubu Amidu(20-2-1)
Provodnikov and Kim have been on FNF a lot, if their opponents can deal with them their fights are always good.
Kim is a wild-swinger who is not hard to hit himself and Provodnikov isn't quite as wild but just as agressive and any boxer who throws straight punches isn't going to miss him very often.
On paper this looks like a very solid show because Provodnikov and Kim have crowd pleasing styles and are both very beatable . -
Hulk SmashKim and Amidu brought it for 10 rounds!! Great fight, all-action, all the time. Amidu was the better techical boxer but Kim's constant agression was just too much for him.
Vince Vaughn who was ringside and is a co-manager for Amidu had to be disappointed...........Kim is a gatekeeper, if your guy can't beat him he's not going very far.
Main event stunk, Torres was over-matched.
The network needs to have a guest in the studio, Bernardo is not as good a host as Brian Kenny was. -
gerb131Provodinkov beat the crap out of Torres. First FNF I've watched in a couple months.
-
HereticI give Torres credit for lasting as long as he did. I thought it'd be over in the first round when Ruslan caught him and had him in trouble. Might have been better for Torres if it had happened that way, as he got pounded in the deciding round.
-
Hulk SmashFNF in Vegas again this week with another wild brawler in the main event.
Edison Miranda(31-6) vs Isaac Chilemba(18-1-1)
Miranda is a gate keeper these days but his fights are still good, he usually KO's his man or gets KO'd. Chilemba is being tested tonight.
Hylon Williams jr(15-0) vs Rances Bartholemy(14-0) in a matchup of lightweight prospects.
Magamed Adbusalamov(12-0, 12ko's) vs Pedro Rodriguez(8-0, 6ko's) in a heavyweight matchup.
None of the fights are scheduled for twelve rounds so they should have time to air three fights even if they go the distance. -
Hulk SmashKnd of a lackluster night on FNF imo.
Bartholemy/Williams had plenty of action but it was rather one-sided, not much drama in the fight.
Not at all impressed with Adbusalamov despite the 2nd round KO. He lost the first round to a lard-ass who should be fighting at cruiserweight then gets the ko with a barrage of wild, slow punches. First time he steps up in class he loses big.
Miranda/Chilemba was looking like a good fight until a head clash opened a nasty cut over Miranda's left eye in the third round then the bleeding clearly impaired his vision the rest of the way. Chilemba couldn't land his right on Miranda's head before the bleeding, didn't miss much after the blood started flowing. Miranda's corner did a terrible job on that cut. Not impressed by Chilemba, no top light heavy will be accused of ducking him...........they'll fight him and they'll beat him. -
Hulk SmashSo...................Cotto vs Mayweather on May 5th.....................done deal.
Pac vs Bradley June 9th pretty much done deal.
Two excellent fight and much better than ANY other combination of the four fighting one another imo.
One or both of the superstars will be defeated... -

I'm definitely excited for Cotto-Mayweather. I think that Cotto has a shot too. -

You PBF fanboys are somethin'. -
Hulk SmashFNF is at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville Connecticut this week......................and their line up for tonight is total shit from top to bottom:mad:
espn should open this show with an apology to anyone watching.
Demetrius Andrade(15-0) vs Angel Hernandez(30-10)
Yet another overmatched opponent for Andrade. Hernandez is many years past his best, has lost his last three fights and taking this one on a few days notice. The guys he stepped in for were even worse, I don't know how Andrade keeps getting fights on tv.
Ray Serrano(17-0) vs Kenny Abril(11-4-1)
This one has the potential to be competitive but I wouldn't expect it.
The whole line up is garbage, would be nice if Hernandez could land a lottery punch on Andrade but that's not going to happen.
espn had at least one interesting match up every week until this one. -
HereticThat means we have "x" period of time where the announcers will be talking about how Andrade needs to step up his competition soon. Like the last fight. And the last. And...you get the picture...
-
Hulk Smash^^^Yep, Teddy has made his feelings about Andrade's opposition pretty clear. I hope he spends the whole show trashing Andrade and his manager.
None of the other networks that show boxing have any live shows on this weekend, this is it. -
Hulk SmashHernandez came to fight....too bad he was outclassed big time, first round actually had plenty of action and espn will be showing that second round ko in highlight reels.
Serrano can be a bit wild, got himself dropped by a jab tonight. I actually hope espn has him back, he's going to be in some slugfests as his opposition gets better. -
Hulk SmashFNF in Arlington, Texas tomorrow and their headliner looks better than the bullshit they aired last week.
Mike Dallas jr (17-2-1) vs Miguel Gonzalez(20-2)
This looks like a good matchup to me and is a must win fight for Dallas.
Shawn Estrada(13-0) vs Terrance Woods(9-3)
There will probably be an extra bout or two getting air time because the ones schedule for tv will be ending early...
Showtime has a solid show scheduled for Saturday and Epix(for those that have it) has an interesting fight too.
Vitali Klitschko vs Derrick Chisora for Vitali's belt. The fight had sold 35,000 tickets a week or so ago. Regardless of which one is fighting Klitschko fights are usually one-sided and boring yet their drawing power in Europe is ridiculous, they've drawn 50,000+ several times. Vitali is 40 years old now so he should be ripe for an upset. -
stlouiedipalmaGonzalez looked pretty meek tonight. Dallas was better prepared and took control of the fight early.
Regarding the Mayweather/Cotto fight, Cotto doesn't stand a chance. I don't particularly like Money, but no one has been able to hang with him. He talks a lot of shit, but always backs it up in the ring. I'm not even sure that Manny can hang with him. -

I need to start catching these FNF's again.. Caught like 5 minutes last night but had to leave... -
Hulk SmashWell, last night wasn't a bad one to miss.
Dallas dominated Gonzalez.
Teddy kept saying Dallas has improved after the two straight losses(one by ko). I'm calling bullshit on that he didn't clinch so much before the ko loss.
Todd Grisham in the studio was miles better than Bernado Osuna, they should keep him.
Timothy Bradley will be in studio on FNF next week, should be interesting to see what he has to say about his fight with Manny.

Check out Chisora bitchslapping Klitschko at the weigh in yesterday
I hope Chisora pulls off the upset.
Tavoris Cloud vs Gabriel Campillo on Showtime tonight should be a damn good fight. -
Hulk Smashhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmtH4ANKXWY
^^^^required viewing. Brutal KO, feet in air, hands in air, twitching, good stuff, happens at about 2 minutes of the video.
FNF in Dover, Delaware this week.
Juan Carlos Burgos(28-1) vs Cristobal Cruz(39-12-3)
Don't dismiss Burgos due to his record. He is a rough customer in there(beware the headbutts) and usually puts on good fights win or lose.
Not sure what other fights will air but all the contestants in the other fights are nobody so we'll see what boxers who suck do when matched with other boxers who suck.
HBO has what should be a good fight on Saturday with Marcos Maidana vs Devon Alexander
