I think if Barnes had come out it would have been a tough choice for the Cavs.hoops23;1040502 wrote:Kyrie is going to be a star. People got way too caught up in the "weak class" bs. Kyrie is one of the top picks no matter the class. His speed, quickness, leadership, the ability to shoot from anywhere and his playmaking ability are fantastic.
In fact, this draft class isn't looking too weak in the NBA right now. -

I know a lot of people are high on Barnes, but consider me skeptical. I really don't see the superstar in Barnes. Solid player, absolutely. Franchise changer? I don't see it.. -

Forgot another Laker fan...also a Michigan football/Duke Basketball fan. He and wildcat are not in the same zip code as skyhook and 2quik for being annoying Laker fans.SportsAndLady;1040543 wrote:Haha speaking of you..I forgot to mention you in the Lakers thread...consider this my apology. -

You talking about true blue? I think I mentioned him somewhere -

Agreed.sportswizuhrd;1040554 wrote: wildcat are not in the same zip code as skyhook and 2quik for being annoying Laker fans. -
wildcats20Anyway...
I haven't seen A LOT of the Cavs, but in the little amount that I have seen; Kyrie has been a nice "surprise."
I expected him to come in and play well. But he has exceeded my expectations. His ceiling could be limitless.... -

He sucks. Damn ginger.SportsAndLady;1040566 wrote:You talking about true blue? I think I mentioned him somewhere -
Commander of Awesomelol at Chris Posh, playing like a chump with the Wade and LBJ out.

I think he lacks the athleticism to be an elite top 10 player but I think he'll be very good player.wildcats20;1040569 wrote:Anyway...

Are you talking about Barnes or Kyrie?Commander of Awesome;1040595 wrote:I think he lacks the athleticism to be an elite top 10 player but I think he'll be very good player.
Kyrie definitely doesn't lack athleticism... He lacks the explosiveness of a guy like Rose or Westbrook, but that doesn't make or break his potential. CP3 never had that kind of explosion either. And while Kyrie may not be a high riser like Rose or Westbrook, he's definitely just about as fast as those guys. His end-to-end speed is ridiculous.
I posted Kyrie and CP3's stats and they are very similar despite CP3 playing about ~10 minutes more. Kyrie is a much better shooter as a rookie than CP3 was as well.
Again, people really bought into the "weak draft" bs.
Harrison Barnes will be a good player, but I think he lacks the elite athleticism at SF to be an elite type of player. I truly see him as a Joe Johnson type with a ceiling of Paul Pierce. Guys who were never considered as the best during their prime, but could be argued as a top 10-15 player.
With Kyrie and T2, Barnes would be a great complimentary piece because he's an elite scorer. -

You dont think Kyrie is a great athlete? Idk, ive seen some highlight tapes of him goin up and dunking with authority with both hands and he also has a VERY quick first step and some great top end speed. Id say hes one of the better athletes at the PG positionCommander of Awesome;1040595 wrote:I think he lacks the athleticism to be an elite top 10 player but I think he'll be very good player.
I think before the season I predicted him in one of those threads to put up 18 and 7 with a few rebounds per game. Might be a bit too lofty, but if he gets some more minutes its def obtainable -
hoops23Kyrie can definitely get up and throw it down. He's a very good shot blocker and rebounder as a PG as well.
I just love his true PG abilities, speed, and how well he takes care of the ball. His handles are sick too. -
Hb31187Yeah, the Cavs really got a great player to build around IMO. Not sure who they should pick up in this years draft though, not really sold on Barnes being all that great at the next level. They def need a wing scorer though

kidd-gilchrist would be a good get if the cavs are bad enough this season for another top five pickHb31187;1040759 wrote:Yeah, the Cavs really got a great player to build around IMO. So did you not get my point?Mulva;1040773 wrote:It was a weak draft.
People bought into the weak draft argument and some assumed that meant every player in the draft was "weak"...
That's simply not true. The talent my not have been as deep as other classes, but that doesn't mean there wasn't legit talent.
Again, Kyrie Irving goes towards the top of ANY draft.
In terms of it being a weak draft, there are several players contributing to teams right now. Aside from Kyrie and T2, you have Brandon Knight, Jimmer, Kemba, Norris Cole, and Marshon Brooks all playing solidly right now. -
MulvaKemba and Jimmer are both shooting under 37%. They're getting minutes because they were high draft picks on horrible teams, but that doesn't mean they're playing "solidly". Rookie stats are overrated though. Not everyone is ready to play immediately coming into the league. Projecting forward, I don't see many current rookies being high impact players, and that's why I think it was a weak class.
I did miss your point about a weak draft meaning every player in it is weak though, and I honestly didn't hear anybody say that heading into the draft last year. I remember people being very high on Kyrie and Williams. The questions started after that.
