Reds Off-Season Thread

So are they going to try to re-sign CoCo or go after Madsen or Lidge? Who else would be an option to be the closer? The plan was to try and make Chapman a starter, but Idk if he's going to be ready to go 5-6 innings with how he loses control of himself.

I like the mentality they are taking..win now.

I'd be shocked if it's anyone but Coco. His stability and familiarity are too hard to overlook when considering a slight upgrade to Madsen/Lidge.

Chapman will probably start in Lousville for awhile with Latos/Cueto/Leake/Arroyo/Bailey in the rotation then come up when the first one is injured. Getting rid of Wood guarantees he's not in the pen next year IMO. Don't forget they lost Maloney also.

If they re-sign coco he will blow at least 10 saves. Book it!

Were really gonna throw arroyo back out there? He was awfullll last year, they better have the balls to yank em if he's sucking again this year.

Then again I could see him going for 17 wins and a 3.80 era just cuz he's weird like that

Just checked MLB Trade Rumors, doesn't look like the Reds have anything really cooking now.

Jocketty said he might look to solidify LF, but as of now he was more concerned with the bench. Also said he and Cordero were still talking, but didn't figure anything would happen with that anytime soon.

Marshall may become the closer if the Reds do not bring anybody else in. But at this point, Jocketty says he is the set-up man

Arroyo will not be as bad as he was last season. No way. He should be league average, at worse. Hopefully.

No choice really. They can't trade him, and they're not goin' put him in the pen as a long man with his salary. I think he'll be a solid 4 or 5 guy since he will probably be healthy this year.

I hope you are right because that would mean he would probably have about 55 saves.

I don't know about Bronson....love his heart and willingness to pitch every start....but he's a smoke and mirrors guy and his HR rate tells me he's low on smoke.

John Heyman reporting that the Reds are in agreement with Ryan Madson. No other details.

Ryan Madson is signing with #reds, who are definitely going for the division title. Boras finds a perfect fit #MLB

    Reds bullpen is now legit.

Madsons stats last year for the laptopless lazy phone people?
  • SportsAndLady
Oh and was it azubuike who was just bashing jockety for being lazy? Lol

Madson is a quality reliever, just hitting his prime I think. Only been a closer for a couple of years, 30+ saves in his first full time season. Phillies got him more leads than the Reds will sadly, but hopefully when the Reds do hand him the ball the door gets shut.

Didn't realize he was 31. I thought he was about 25. Still good pickup for the Redlegs.

One year, ten mil?? Wow. Thought we had no money!?!? Lol
  • dave
    crazy!

went out and got one of the best available starters, maybe the best reliever in baseball, and now the best available closer.
  • wildcats20
    Just heard it's $8.5 mil
  • se-alum
The bullpen could be flat out nasty if Masset gets his shit together.

For letting Aaron Cook sign for nothing with Boston...yes. Rotation depth is still an issue.

    Cueto
    Latos
    Leake
    Bailey
    Arroyo

Lecure could be a spot starter here and there
Chapman possibly in the rotation at some point

Sure they could use another starter, but they'll be fine
