NFL Week 9 - Baltimore Ravens (5-2) at Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)

    no way a ravens team with really no outside spped guys should drive 92 yards for a TD. the last time the steelers had the ball before the last 8 seconds they called a terrible play on 3rd and 4. you have great field position and you dump a ball off to mwelde moore. throw the ball downfield.

    Good game but the Ravens pulled out the broom, there is always a shit ton of questionable calls in this series. Monday is good for me, hope everyone enjoys looking at my Ravens shirt today

    In recent years, Pittsburgh has always been able to pressure Flacco and get into his head. That should be the primary concern. Fuck him up, let him that that "oh shit" look early and we should win.

    Solid win for the Ravens. Not surprised by the win though as they clearly are the superior team this season. The game probably should have been a bigger win for the Ravens, but the Steelers had some confidence and home field during a night game. If the refs stayed out of the game though, the Ravens win by at least 10.

    What kind of adjustments do you think the Steelers defense needs to make as they clearly are not the same defense as they were in years past (as indicated by the final drive)?

    It's really amazing the plays that Ray Lewis is still making. His game changing strip sack was a great play. Really turned the game for the Ravens. Just a testament to the fact that you can't win with a suspect offensive line. I would think the Steelers remember this and draft some protection for their QB.

    Rough game last night. A lot of what ifs. Both teams had their chances, Baltimore made the plays this time. I give them credit. Steelers have won many games like that before.

    Despite the loss last night, I ask this question...Can the Steelers win the AFC this year?...I say absolutely. Baltimore might be the best team at this point and they barely won that game with the Steelers playing without LaMarr Woodley and Emmanuel Sanders.

    Corners that can cover 1 on 1 and a free safety that can play the pass

    I don't see it happening. Baltimore is the much better team, especially when they are at home. I also don't know if the Steelers will be able to handle the Jets defense the way they are playing. Hell that o line might be destroyed by the Bengals defense next week. A lot is going to need to go the Steelers way for them to win the AFC.

    Those would be good adjustments, but it sounds like those adjustments are only made through the draft and FA.

    Hats off to Flacco on that last drive.

    I thought after the quick 3 and out Baltimore would pack it in. Pittsburgh's D was attacking and I thought it was in the bag.

    People can whine about the calls all they want, but the refs didn't drive it 92 yards to win it. The blame can go all around from Tomlin to the players....that is unacceptable.

    Yeha not gonna happen this year. It's obvious that Baltimore has exploited the issue this year. It becomes pretty obvious when you see the stat that 84% of first downs by gain for the Ravens against the Steelers this year have been by the pass. :thumbdown:

    It was also glaring against the Packers in the Super Bowl. Max protect, put out 3 fast receivers, and you can work downfield all fucking day

    I didn't think Flacco was capable of producing a game winning drive like that. That might be the drive that could change his career.

    hahhaahh steelers aren't all non had them out to be. nice try though, i'm sure the steelers will "dominate" the rest of the schedule like they were supposed to with the ravens last night. by the way, did I not say ravens by a field goal? hmmm I think I did.

    Ravens definitely got the benefit of the officiating in this game. Steelers still should've been able to stop a 92-yard drive. I'm not making this an officials cost us the game theme but clearly Ray Lewis led with the helmet...that should've been called. Then the officials gave the Ravens a borderline helmet hit which led to a field goal before halftime. They also got a gift touchdown on another borderline pass interference...the kind of handfighting that happens all game long, there is much worse that doesn't get called.

    I think Baltimore is a better team this year but if they're the best team in the AFC at this point I like the Steelers chances. It's not out of the question that the Steelers can get healthier and stronger and comeback and beat them in the playoffs. They've won big games in Baltimore before.

    Actually, I know you expected them to lose to New England and Baltimore.

    They beat New England and were right there against Baltimore, a game that could've gone either way.

    I feel better about the Steelers chances than I did earlier in the season. I never said they were guaranteed to win it all. I think they're one of the teams that have a legit chance to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. They should be in the playoffs and at least playing in the divisional round, possibly against Baltimore again.

    Whenever the Steelers lose, you always say the other team recieved all the calls. In your eyes the Steelers should only have 3 losses in the past 3 years if it wasn't for the officials.

    I thought there were some shitty calls, but they definitely went both ways. Somehting would be called on the Ravens, but not on the Steelers. Called on the Steelers but not on the Ravens. Odd calls on the reviews both ways.

    Definitely officiated interestingly.

    No. Only the Jets game last year in the regular season. I thought the Jets cornerbacks were allowed to hold on the final drive. The holds in that game were much worse than the pass interference on Ike Taylor last night that gave Baltimore the ball right at the goal line.

    I don't care which team you're a fan of, you have to push for consistency on the helmet hits. Lewis' hit was much more clearly a helmet hit than the one Ryan Clark delivered. They should be able to review those plays and if it's a helmet hit they should throw the flag...rather than just give out a fine on Tuesday.

    I saw the Lewis hit in the highlights. It blows my mind that it wasn't flagged, yet the Clark hit was. You either flag them both, or not at all.

    Just to be clear, I'm not saying the officials cost the Steelers this game.

    The Steelers had plenty of chances. Larry Foote had his hand on the ball on that final drive. An interception would've sealed the game.

    Flacco was clutch and Baltimore deserves credit for getting the win. The Steelers have won games like that against Baltimore. Ravens did it this time.

    However....there's no way the Steelers got the benefit of the officiating and that's the reason why they were close. If any team benefited more last night it was Baltimore.

    Of course they did. The Steelers never lose without the other team getting help.

    I agree about Lewis, but do you have that same view with Harrison's hits last year, since he didn't get penalized on both of them? I don't recall you bitching about that.

    For example, on the Lewis hit, they reviewed the play anyway to see if Ward made the catch.

    While the official is looking at it again, I don't see the problem with realizing it was a helmet hit and penalizing for it right there.

    The game moves fast...ok they missed it in live action...but you clearly saw it was so get it right.

    I recall the majority bitching that the calls were inconsistent, which they are. I've learned to just deal with it...its part of the game now.
