Warning : Dunking on LeBron will make you go insane...

Either that or playing for Xavier will. Seems like that's what happened to Jordan Crawford.
I don't tell nobody, but I feel like I can be better than Michael Jordan," Crawford said, without the slightest hint of sarcasm. "When I'm done playing, I don't want people to say, Michael Jordan is the best player. I want that to be me. That's how I am. That's how I was built."

Um, what? You realize people will look at you sideways and think you're crazy for saying that, right?

"Yeah, I know that, I definitely know that. But I'm not settling for anything less," Crawford said. "I feel like I'm better than him, anyway. My mom is going to say I'm better than him."
How's the song go? I wanna be like Mike...

    Good luck with that Mr.Crawford.

Obviously it could be out of context and he was questioned about it or something, but I don't have a problem with it. What's he supposed to say?
Interviewer: "Who do you compare your game to?"
Crawford: "I play like Bobby Sura. I wanna be mentioned as the next Sura!"

Now if he came out of nowhere and just decided to tell the media that "I'm better than Michael Jordan" than yes...that's dumb. If you wanna be something, be the best.

Jordan is the most overrated player in all of sports. People like to pretend there's no way anyone can ever be better than him, ever. It's just not realistic. I'd put Lebron, Shaq, Chamberlain, etc. as a better player than Jordan(cue the "rings" talk). Rings are a team award, I don't understand how that has anything to do with how great a player is.

With that said, I don't think Crawford will be in the league that long to even get in the conversation as being a top 20 player in the current NBA, much less better than Jordan.

Lbj and Shaquille are no where near what mj was. What makes mj the best ever wasn't his talent but his will and killer instinct. Trying to make a rings is a team reward is a stupid argument bc basketball is a team game and part of being a great player is making your team win. Chamberlin put up huge numbers but his teammates hated him for his lack passing and doing little things to make his team win. Shaquille couldn't even make a free throw and had to be benches sometimes with the game on the line.

I mean, wasn't Jordan offensive and defensive POY one season in the NBA? That right there puts you in elite NBA status, not sure how he could be considered overrated at all.

I agree with you to an extent. I dont like how when people bring up the greatest basketball player of all time, everyones answer is automatically Jordan and they act like nobody is even in the same ballpark when it comes to talent level. Which is completely false IMO

Shaq was no doubt a more dominant player than Michael Jordan. And impacted the game on both ends of the court just like Jordan did

How many of you watched Jordan for the majority of his career???

Artis Gilmore was clearly better than Jordan as well.

I watched Jordan his entire career. I don't think he holds a candle to the talent Lebron or Shaq have. But most people don't think for themselves and don't want to present arguments contrary to media generated hype. Most people aren't as rich as me either, so I guess some things in life you just have to accept.

Watered down league and voted in by the media/coaches who don't actually evaluate players in an organized way. If Lebron/Shaq accomplished this, many on here would be quick to discredit it because they are balls deep in Jordan.

Watered down league? Who was Shaquille's stiff competition on the way to those rings? Sabonis, Divak(?), Rick Smits, who the hell played center for Philly. Any other hof centers I missed.

I believe an argument can be made for someone being better than Jordan and not buying the media hype, but I dnt think you can call Shaq better than Jordan. I think he was one OC the greatest but not better than MJ. Shaq benefited from going up against some weak ass centers.

Jordan is the best ever, but he is probably overrated too. The Bulls were pretty fucking stacked. He had probably the #3 player in the league, the best rebounder, the best shooter, and the best European haha they were just a great team and should have won like nine championships.

Did Shaq or Lebron ever win any rings being the leader on a team? I'm pretty sure Shaq always had Kobe or DWade, Lebron couldnt lead his team to a ring with Shaq or Dwade.....find someone else's dick to ride.

I think it'd be safe to say that 1st championship Shaq won in 2000 he was the leader on that team. 2001 was about 50/50 between him and Kobe, and then 2002 Kobe was the leader on that team.

I usually agree with you but gtfo. Ledouche might have more skills than MJ, but no possible way can you say he is better. LBJ is a bitch who disappears when the game is on the line.

The players now are bigger faster stronger and play basketball in organized competition far longer than they did 15-20 years ago. I'd put probably 5-6 players right now that are better than Jordan. Robert Horry basically counters any of the "Yeah, but Jordan has 6 rings and 6 MVPs". When you basically have John Stockton and no one else even remotely talented in the league, coupled with a lazy media who just wants to say "Oh Jordan is the best" because any real evaluation would require work, you create the cliche of MJ being the greatest ever.

This is a dumb post. Why do you have to be a leader of the team when you win a championship to be considered better than others? This is just more irrational arguments presented because you can't think of anything to validate Jordan being the greatest. It doesn't make sense. Hell, Steve Nash would have 6 rings and 6 MVPs and 6 Finals MVPs if he played in a water down league like Jordan and had the team Jordan had surrounding him. Somehow, I'd feel you'd still think Jordan was the best because you are too lazy to think for yourself. To each his own.

And MJ always had Pippen to help him along. Kobe wasnt the "man" for all of his titles
  • sportchampps
Mj changed the type of game he played three different times in his career to be successful Kobe is the only other player constantly adding to his game. If lbj could add a midrange jump shot and come through during crunch time in the future he may take the title away.
  • I Am Ahab
I'm very far from an NBA historian but I think there were some pretty decent players other than Stockon in the league when Jordan played.

I never said anything about Jordan being the greatest, do I think he is? yes. But its hard to say this person is better than that person bc they dont play against each other. What has Lebron done to be even in the conversation for great? Congrats he can dunk and run down small guards.
To lazy to think for myself? said the guy who thinks you cant like a team outside of your state, talk about being a programmed robot.
