Talent wise Melo is top 5 I would say, would like to see more out of him in the play making department and defensively obviously. He's one of the elite scorers in the game but the intangibles aren't always there. It all opinion, what I value isn't the same as what you value or what someone else does really.
Whatre those "intangibles" that Durant has that Melo doesnt that makes everyone think hes a lock top 5 player? I mean I agree hes really really talented, but aside from having a better long range jumper he really doesnt do anything better than Melo. He just seems to be a media favorite

Unselfishness/willingness to pass(Melo is a bit of a black whole when he catches it on the wing), more versatile, a little bit better defender, has shown better ability to put a team on his back when he has to( I think Melo bouncing out in the first round 7/8 years says a lot about him), Durant would never get a DUI during the playoffs so I guess focus on winning would be one. You're right in the fact that the media do love Durant, Skip Bayless even said he is better than Lebron and a few others have said that as well which I think is crazy. Melo is probably in that 7-9 range as far as best players go, but top 5 talent wise.

I'd also put Ellis around top 10. Dude gets no love.

He averages under 3 assists per game..same as Melo, while taking about the same # of shots. So Idk how hes unselfish and Melo is? But I agree with the bouncing out int he first round looks bad on a resume

I think he's better than Paul, but I think Rose may have passed him.

    Not even close.

Just what I see when I watch a game, Melo looks only at the rim and Durant is willing to pass more.

I guess so. But if it doesnt lead to anything (assists) is it really helpful?

Definitely, passing out of the double team and making the pass that leads to the pass that leads to score is big, hockey assist. Especially when you draw that much attention as a superstar.

I guess thats right, but theres no real way to measure who does that more. Pretty much strictly opinion it seems like

Maybe, he played a huge role, but he also was the main reason why the Lakers didn't win 4 in a row.

Lakers were going to get raped by the Mavs either way.

    Derron Williams
    Aldridge

That's my list of players that I rank as better NBA players ahead of him. Not saying talent or scoring but I'm not a melo fan.
COA I like everyone on your list except Gasol as being better then Melo. I also love that you listed Steve Nash dude gets no love.

I think sometimes with Nash, his two MVPs (one he DEFINITELY didn't deserve and the other he might not have) have poisoned people against him to where they underrate him.

Possibly, but doesn't mean that your opinion is right and mine is wrong. He is way more complete than Derrick Rose is, who is a combo guard playing point.

Pierce (at his current age)Aldridge,Love, John Wall, Tyreke Evans, Blake Griffin, Westbrook....I know this is an opinion based thread. But jesus christ seriously? lol

Hey look, Blake Griffin in the top 10.

Dirk-great offensive player, doesnt play defense, doesnt rebound well for his position=Lock top 10
Melo, great offensive player, doesnt play defense too much, rebounds about the same as Dirk and his 7 foot frame.

1 is lock top 10, 1 is said to be lucky to be considered top 10? hmm
