2011-2012 Columbus Blue Jackets Thread: Yes, they're still a team

Detroit doesn't NEED to change anything and they'll continue to be a very successful franchise.

Columbus is further East than Detroit and is struggling financially. Giving the franchise a big break in travel can only help, and building some rivalries with teams like Pittsburgh will also help build attendance.

Columbus has far less in common with the western teams than Detroit. Detroit has a longer history established.

Columbus going East makes the most sense, by far. But, knowing how ****ed up the NHL can be, it won't surprise me in the least if they select Detroit. Stupid is as stupid does.
Yeah but we're Red Wing Nation and in all honesty it's so much bigger than C-Bus that we can get whatever we want in all honesty. Also Columbus would get destroyed in that division out east, and I mean destroyed in the new realignment. Mtl, Ott, Tor, Bos, Buf, Det, Pit is what's being brought up and folks those are all playoff teams except Ottawa. Columbus would not compete in that division IMO, although the Central isn't much better as Chicago, Detroit and Nashville are some of the best teams in the west and guaranteed playoff teams

I got tickets for the Pens-Blue Jackets game. Never seen the Jackets in person. Looking forward to it.

Well, Illitch (Red Wings' owner) says Bettman has promised a move east for Detroit: http://eye-on-hockey.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/27694626/32386832

    Bullshit.

Detroit doesn't need the East like the CBJ does. The West needs Detroit more than the CBJ.

The time zone difference is horrible for the Wings though. I mean really how many West Coast people are down for a 4:30 playoff game? And Wings fans have to stay up until 1 AM to watch games. I don't think it matters where the BlueJackets go because the only thing they're competing for it seems like is draft position. Honestly if they were in the Eastern Conference the result would be no different, they still wouldn't have made the postseason.

Now this season may be different but again a very difficult Central and big question marks with Mason

    LETS GO JACKETS

Opening night begins in 10 minutes. Nashville @ CBJ

Sucks that Wiz is out, but we really need to kick some Predator ass tonight.

Columbus looked good I thought but what can you do against Rinne when he's on. They seem good enough to crack the playoffs but being in the brutal Central does no favors for them

Top line was excellent. They are going to do damage. Defense was subpar and Mason let in an easy one. Overall disappointed, but optimistic.

Peka Rinne is one of the best goalies in hockey, he'd take Edmonton to the playoffs. But again we out play out shoot out check someone and fall short.

Carter and Nash have some great chemistry right now. I just got home from the game.

I was in hell during the whole first period. I have PCS and my dad along with the usher noticed I was in severe discomfort so they sent me to the first aid station and they asked what was wrong so they called down to the team doctor area to let them know that I was going down to see them. I go down there and they did an eye test and had me try and balance myself but I can't. I told them that I feel like I'm always moving and they said that I might be developing Vertigo. So they moved me to a different part of the arena to watch the game and gave me some tylenol. After that I felt much better...

But the problem is you're gonna need more than a solid top line. I mean they're good but the Wings are 3 or maybe even 4 good lines deep, Chicago isn't as deep but but loaded on the front 2 and the best Blue Line duo in hockey and the Preds basically can't be scored upon. If those other guys don't step up it'll be a long season

It's been the same story for years...Ilitch says that Devellano and Holland were told that they'd be moving, Devellano says it was Ilitch and Holland who were told it, and Holland says it was Ilitch and Devellano.

No one has actually stepped up and said "I was actually told directly that we will move."

2-1 CBJ going to the 3rd at home vs Vancouver.

I totally agree, but the guys we are considering for the 2nd and 3rd line with RJ and AV are all unproven (Atkinson, Johanssen, Brassard, Calvert). I'm counting on them to grow up fast (which I have said every year). Atkinson looks like a keeper though. Jury out on other 3.
  • gerb131
Well they lose again 3-2. Going to be a long winter with Oh St and CBJ sucking it up.

Where is the celebration for the FIRST POINT of the season?

Against the one of the worst 3 teams in the NHL at Nationwide Arena too...thumbs up?

The good news is, if the Jackets win out, they would set an NHL record of 157 points in a single season. I'm still hoping!
  • gorocks99
    God, we suck.
  • Commander of Awesome
The start of the season is a bit of a surprise as this is supposed to be our best team on paper we've had.
  • Y-Town Steelhound
A lot of new faces on this team so it's going to take time for them to get acclimated unfortunately. However, the schedule sets up for them well in the second half so don't be surprised if this team manages to sneak into the playoffs come end of season.
  • gerb131
They are the worst. I dont think Jeff Carter threw a check the whole game in Dallas. This team sucks w/o Boll I think he meant that much to them
  • Azubuike24
Carter is out tonight. The Jackets are the only team in the West without a win. Only 1 of 2 teams without a win in the NHL and at least the Rangers have 2 OTL's in only 3 games played, while the CBJ have played 5. Only one direction to go...

You'd think so, but they are currently losing to Dallas 3-1 despite outshooting them 31-15.

    They are horrid PERIOD
