Opinions on Thome coming back to Cleveland

ts1227Traffic outside the jake is absurd right now

MulvaI was never that upset with him for leaving. The Indians weren't going anywhere heading into 2003. He got more money and a better chance to win. Classy guy and love having him back. He deserves to go out in a Tribe uni.

Been waiting on this for a while. Hopefully it will come in when I am in Canton. Sounds like they will have Fox Sports Radio when they arent airing their own.BR1986FB;874604 wrote:That will all change Monday when the new sports talk channel launches on 92.3.
The morning drive will be Chuck Booms and Kevin Kiley. Booms is from Cleveland and Kiley used to co-host a show with Michael Irvin in Dallas. Andy Baskin will co-host a show from 10-2. Hopefully they can get WKNR to be better.

Many, many moons ago I used to work with Chuck Booms when he was a regular guest DJ at a night club in Cleveland called "The Mining Company." I was a bouncer.sportswizuhrd;874662 wrote:Been waiting on this for a while. Hopefully it will come in when I am in Canton. The thing I like about the new station is that it's FM. On my morning drive, I don't pick up Mike & Mike until I hit Streetsboro which is over half of my drive and I lose reception at 5pm about 10 minutes from my house.
My only motivation to listen to KNR now will be "Bump & Run" Tuesdays & Thursdays for the Trick Bag Punks. This way I'll be able to listen to 92.3 all the way from when I leave at 6am. -
cat_loverHated when he left but didn't blame him for leaving. glad to had him back

HitsRusHe seems to have sparked a fire in the clubhouse..

I still remember the day that Reghi (when he was still by himself) introduced the segment for the first time, thinking it was going to be a serious thing as it was an everyday feature originally. My only motivation to listen to KNR now will be "Bump & Run" Tuesdays & Thursdays for the Trick Bag Punks.
I guess a few too many calls from "Rizzo's rug" and "Reghi's plugs" scared the station a little bit though as they cut bump and run down to 2 segments a week because they couldn't properly handle the TBPers.
I will say though that Reghi's "get off my air you ignorant ass" rant was one of my favorites though.
On topic it was nice to see Thome homer tonight.
Sadly Detroit has been playing lights out of late so it is hard to see how the tribe makes up the distance, but at least you can tell the team seems a little energized with Jim back around. It can't hurt to have him there because at least it should keep the fans interested in the meantime when they otherwise might have totally jumped ship now that it is looking very unlikely the post season is possible. -
sportswizuhrdSpeaking of Reghi, I never knew he used to work for the Orioles. The other day after Mike Flanagan died, he said they were partners for 7 years for the O's. How long has he worked in the Cleveland area?
Here is Ozzie Guillen on Thome coming back to the Indians...
In the rest of the video, he has very high praise for Thome."Thank God the people of Cleveland forgot very quick, because they had the biggest standing ovation [for Thome] a few minutes ago. But they have a very short memory. I'm happy that Cleveland fans give him the welcome they way they should. They should forgive him, what happened, and they should be embarrassed about booing this man with no reason. Now they have him back and hopefully Jim plays good for them."

vball10setnever liked Reghi when he worked in Toledo, and I don't like him now--- and his hair plugs freak me out (he was balding when he worked for Channel 13 here in the Glass City)

I wonder what exactly it is that Mr. Guillen believes the fans are forgiving him for. What did Guillen believe that Thome did that is forgivable?"Thank God the people of Cleveland forgot very quick, because they had the biggest standing ovation [for Thome] a few minutes ago. Reghi has been around since at least the 80's, I believe. While he worked for the Orioles I believe he used to also do Cavs games at the same time.sportswizuhrd;875624 wrote:Speaking of Reghi, I never knew he used to work for the Orioles. His sense of humor sucks....that is my biggest problem with him -

The only reason I listen to Bump & Run is to hear two guys...the top TBPer and the guy who calls in and sings "morning's with Drennan on KNR..." That guy who they call the top TBPer is always on his game.IggyPride00;875544 wrote:I still remember the day that Reghi (when he was still by himself) introduced the segment for the first time, thinking it was going to be a serious thing as it was an everyday feature originally.

Roda is the worst. He says some stupid shit and then laughs at his own jokes. He keeps using that "Who's next?" line from Coming to America and he always laughs at himself as you can hear crickets from the rest of the guys. He does do a good Charlie Manuel, Brad Daugherty & Coach Luke impression though. -
wes_mantoothI do like that he gets pissed at the intentionally bad calls some of their "quick hitter" segments
-
BR1986FBYeah, seems like he sometimes takes thing VERY personal and snaps. Call in and call him a "blind homer" and watch the fireworks fly. He HATES being called a homer.

RotinajCant wait for espn to start the topic of "If Jim Thome was black would the fans of cleveland welcome him back the same?". Then compare the situation to Lebron like its even in the same category. Guarantee jemele hill or rob parker say this on 1st take monday.

Nah, they will be too busy trying to be the 2nd NFL Network.Rotinaj;875652 wrote:Cant wait for espn to start the topic of "If Jim Thome was black would the fans of cleveland welcome him back the same?". Is Roda from Pittsburgh? I have heard plenty of times on here and on the air that he is a Steeler fan and also a Pirate fan.BR1986FB;875641 wrote:He has a sense of humor?

Yes, he is and he ALWAYS takes not so subtle "shots" at the Browns whenever he can.sportswizuhrd;875711 wrote:Is Roda from Pittsburgh? I have heard plenty of times on here and on the air that he is a Steeler fan and also a Pirate fan. -

I wonder how many other major market have sports talk show hosts who aren't fans of the team(s) that they are covering. It's not like he is a reporter, he is paid for his opinion.BR1986FB;875752 wrote:Yes, he is and he ALWAYS takes not so subtle "shots" at the Browns whenever he can. -

He's a friggin bandwagoner. I went to college with him at Baldwin-Wallace along with Matt Underwood. Roda roots for the Steelers, Buckeyes & Cavs. Will also root for the Tribe when they are doing yet. Acts like he's been a lifelong Buckeye.sportswizuhrd;875980 wrote:I wonder how many other major market have sports talk show hosts who aren't fans of the team(s) that they are covering. A better question would be how many major markets have sports talk show hosts who are not only NOT a fan of those teams but also a fan of a MAJOR rival in pro football? Only. In. Cleveland. -
wes_mantoothAnd you have Hammer....a damn John elway fan....smh.

When Reghi was talking about Flanagan and the O's he mentioned that Roda was a Pirate fan and Roda gave a "mmmhhmm". I used to like the guy, but now he's pretty annoying.BR1986FB;875993 wrote:He's a friggin bandwagoner. I went to college with him at Baldwin-Wallace along with Matt Underwood.
