Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Indians series thread

grodtNot sure why they used Carrera to pinch run for Chisenhall in the 8th. Could have been him at 3rd instead of Fuk. Also, I fucking hate Jose Valverde.
-
wghfanThank god baseball season is over with, and football is set to begin.
-
dat dudeHuge sweep for Tigers. Still six games left to play vs Indians, but it's nice to take care of the second place team without even needing to throw your ace.
-
BRFWell, that just about does it.
-
Laley23I gotta thank the Indians, they have kept me interested all the way up to football season. But they are toast, a sweep versus the pathetic trio the Tigers threw at us is pathetic. Ubaldo sucks ass btw.

You know what the fans' level of interest in the team is when more people are talking about/are more concerned about a Browns PRESEASON game over the Tribe's biggest series of the year. This series was one huge facepalm. -

Mostly because he doesn't hit for any power. -
Crimson streakI still think the tribe can take the division. They just need Kipnis back and have solid pitching and defense

of all the people on the bench he does. probably has more homeruns than everyone else combined. -

Yep....I agree with all of this -
BRFI also agree with the Laley assessment.
-
royal_kI agree with all of the above.

BR1986FBDidn't watch the game but saw the replay on SportsCenter this morning. Saw the way in ended...what a f'in puss. If the catcher is going to block the plate, you go airborne, leading with your shoulder Pete Rose style, and take his head off...not slide politely into a tag like a gaping vagina.
-
wes_mantoothWell, to be fair br, fuk sucks at baseball so that was not a surprise. Laporta didn't do his join either....that was a damn shallow pop up. I would have just left marson in there...I trust him more than laporta.

Swamp FoxI thought I'd comment briefly, since one or two posters were expecting me to get involved in this assault on the Tribe. I'm a Tiger fan as some of you may know, but I've said the very same kinds of things about Detroit for years (55 and counting). I don't harbor any ill will for the Indians, as my allegiance is purely an act of where my parents were living when I was born. I left Detroit when I was 3, but for whatever reason, I have maintained my interest in the Tigers my whole life. More to the point, the Tigers are capable of bad baseball at the most inopportune times. Those who say that the Indians now have a ten game stretch at home against some pretty bad baseball teams and the Tigers must go out on the road against one very good team (Tampa) and another who has made life very tough for Detroit for years are absolutely correct. If Verlander loses tonight, game back on instantly. You people obviously haven't watched the Tigers like I have. You and I have a lot in common if the truth were known. (I must confess that I did thoroughly enjoy the sweep but I know that the season is far from over.)

'nuff said.....now, on to football--please!!! -
Con_AlmaThe schedule is much more favorable for the Indians than the Tigers.

No it isn't, the Tribe still has a series with Texas which is an automatic sweep no matter how good they are. -

I disagree. Compare the games with the Mariners and Royals with the Tigers' schedule.like_that;869856 wrote:No it isn't, the Tribe still has a series with Texas which is an automatic sweep no matter how good they are. -

As a 50+ year follower of the Tribe, we can commiserate together. There has been very little to cheer about in either city re baseball in that time period. I would agree with your assessment, but would argue the Tribe's history of futility will trump the Tiger's any time. The Tribe actually made a game of ONE of the weekend series, yet still found a way to lose/not to win that one. Ubaldo has shown no reason not to think this was a bust of a trade for the Tribe, and will be VERY surprised if he shows anything more than what we've already seen for the rest of the year. (or the next 2 as far as that goes.) And if the two ace prospects we gave up to get him haven't yet shown they will be aces at the major league level, we just assured that by trading them away. Stick a fork in the Tribe: they will end up in 3rd place in the division; mark it down. -
assumptionWhy would you call Scherzer and Fister pathetic. Both had Cleveland hitters off balance. Maybe you should address Indians starters being somewhat .............pathetic.

I think that was addressed with all the "ubaldo sucks" and "here is the bad david huff" posts. The tigers starting pitching is pretty pedestrian outside of verlander, so when you can't score on them...it is very frustrating. But hey, our offense has sucked all year, so not sure why we are surprised. -

Because Scherzer going into the game had a 4.5 era. That is probably not even in the top 100 of baseball lol. I mean, in a year when like 20 pitchers have sub 3 eras, a 4.5 is PATHETIC! Fister has a good era, but if he was the best guy they threw at us, a sweep is a horrible result. Plus, Fister has sucked since he came over from Seattle and the Tribe blasted him.
They had Cleveland hitters off-balance because the Cleveland offense is a fucking joke. Its horrendous. My point is we are fucking dead to rights if we cant even score off of those guys. It is obvious the Tribe are pathetic, I didnt think I needed to point that out lol. -
assumptionJust a thought. How about Scherzer and Fister for Jimenez? Two 'pathetic' pitchers for a somewhat dubious all-star. lol
