Jon Diebler

  • June18
I just saw on Sullinger's twitter that Diebler is going to Greece but I can't find anything else. Anyone know anything?

    Not a bad idea John.

Might as well get accustom to being overseas. He'll be there after a year or 2 in the NBA

Yeah, we are all so much better than he is at basketball. Playing professionally is embarrassing.

When did it become a no-no to be critical/honest about somebody's prospects at the next level. Here's a solution, let's just say that everybody will make the Hall of Fame and give them trophies to help their self-esteem?

Did I say I was better? No, I said he'll end up overseas. Relative or something? jeesh

Why? If he can shoot he will stay!

Plenty of guys who were knockdown shooters in college dont trasnlate to the NBA. He may prove me wrong and stick around for a while, but if I had to bet...Id bet he'll be overseas in a few years

There's the possibility that ironman is Tim Tebow?

That was the plan anyways, I believe. I am hesitant to believe he will play in the NBA, however there was no doubt he would get a job overseas. He can play over water as long as he wants and make some really good money doing it.

Not many people shot 50% from three and have been accustomed to the shooter role. I will agree with you that Diebler will spend time overseas, but I disagree that it will be after time in the NBA. I think he may play a year or two before coming to the NBA at which point I think he'll play a good number of a years as a solid role player.

He won't be required to create his own shots in the NBA and there are far worse defenders than him currently on NBA rosters. He shoots threes at an elite level particularly spot-up or coming off of screens. This much he has shown. He also has pretty good size for his position so I see no reason as to why he can't have a decent NBA career.

    3 things....

I seemed to have interpreted a hidden meaning into hb's post which is easy to do sometimes on these boards

No one knows how he'll do...we can give countless examples of each way he might go. I almost always side with the athlete....to do what they have done so far is just amazing and the endless hours they've put into honing their craft and proving people wrong....I just believe in their abilities more than those of us on here or other places.

    My apologies hb.

I think he will make it in the NBA.

Good for Jon! Take the MONEY! NOW!!

There were plenty of people who said hed never make it at the college level either. I even went to games of his at Upper Sandusky and people said hed get thrown around in the Big Ten and wouldnt even start or make it through 4 years at OSU.

If Wally Szerbiak(sp) can make it, and get a fat 13 million dollar per year contract, Jon Diebler has a place somewhere.

The Big 10 and NBA are two different things.

You are right. The NBA might be a step down from the Big Ten. ;)

I think some had too high of expectations, but I don't recall many saying he couldn't play at OSU.

Horrible comparison. Wally was a really solid NBA player for a period. He was much more physical and more well rounded offensively.

    Ok....let's try Redick with size?

I think Redick tests out as the best athlete on Orlando's roster when everything measurable is factored in.

He's an unathletic white guy who can shoot. I think the comparison is fair, and since you're against it, its probably correct.

I actually compare Redick and Szerbiak closely. Both were great college scoters and developed a grittiness to their games in the NBA.

I like the Kyle Korver comparisons.
