Merrill Hoge blasts Tim Tebow on Twitter

SportsAndLadyI pujoled your mom, footwedge. So there goes your theory.

TiernanSteve Young? ...worse than Tebow??? Are you fkn kidding me!?!? At absolutely no time in Young's career (Hell five years after he retired...) was the man ever worse than Tebow. Maybe the dumbest post ever on OC - Footwedge - congratulations.

SpeedofsandAnyone know Peyton Manning's numbers his first year? Or Matthew Stafford ? There are dozens of guys who are/were good QBs that had awful numbers early in their careers. Especially when they were on awful teams.

He had 3700 yards, 26 TDs, 326 completions, 28 INT (only bad stat), only had 1 fumble and only took 22 sacks.
Not to mention, this is Tebows second year. Peyton went 13-3 in his second year. -
hasbeenManning had a 56% passer his rookie year. He made accurate throws. Tebow does not.

It's not only the awful numbers, but the awful throwing motion. Bottom line....he doesn't have the mechanics to be a successful NFL QB. I don't give a shit how good his character is or his work ethic or his "heart"....it doesn't matter. His throwing motion is terrible...face it.Speedofsand;954721 wrote:Anyone know Peyton Manning's numbers his first year? Or Matthew Stafford ? From reading this reaction, I'm now trying to decide if you just completely failed at comprehending what I (or the article I linked to) said or if you're just retarded. They didn't make fun of "Timmy bitching". They made fun of his religious reaction. In a country where the wide majority of people are theistic, I find that a little odd. But since you call yourself Heretic, it all makes sense that you were offended.
1. Tebow currently sucks as an NFL quarterback. The only thing he really has going for him are "intangibles" (ie: the "he wins games" argument people used for Krenzel as an NFL QB.
2. Tebow gets an amazing amount of love from unrealistic people (look at SoS' attempt to compare Peyton Manning to him based on a first year by Manning that was apparently 500% better than what SoS thought it was). This seems based on said intangibles, the fact he was a winner at college and because he's a good person off the field.
3. Anyone who's not a Tebow fan for those reasons (none of which have anything to do with prolonged NFL success, if actual NFL QB talent isn't also part of the picture) is wondering why a guy who really has no business on the football field at this point is getting so much attention and why so many retards are trying to make any excuse possible for his shitty play. Or in your case, trying to make an issue out of an opponent mocking his prayer gesture.
The last time I remember a player getting a lot of attention for doing so little, it was either Rod "HE HATE ME" Smart or Freddie "I just want to thank my hands for being so great." Mitchell, but Tebow takes it to a whole new level. -

Young played in 19 games in 2 years in Tampa Bay, had an average completion % of 52.95 for 3217 yards for 11 tds and 21 INTFootwedge;954349 wrote:You might be right. I think he should switch to tight end myself. But playing on this crappy team makes it hard to know for sure if he's an NFL quarterback. Steve Young was a lot worse than Tebow...for years....when he played for Tampa Bay. Funny how he ended up in Canton isn't it?
Tebow has played in 12 games in 2 years, has an average completion % of 48.1 for 1,066 yards, 13 TD's and 5 INT's.
I don't see Young being "a lot worse" other than turning the ball over
Let's not forget Young played 2 years in the UFL before he went to Tampa, so his first 2 years of Pro ball he had a 56.25 completion %, and threw for 4102 yards. Lets not forget that in 1985 as the league was falling apart he had to play as the sole back in games because his team had no running backs.
So in other words....no, just.....no -

Steve Youngs stats are terrible his first 2 years no matter how you try and spin it. How many people thought Steve Young would make it in the NFL, let alone a HOF career, after those first 2 years? I am by no means saying Tebow is going to make it but some of the criticism is just pure hatred for him as a person.LJ;954938 wrote:Young played in 19 games in 2 years in Tampa Bay, had an average completion % of 52.95 for 3217 yards for 11 tds and 21 INT

He said Young had worse stats. He did not have worse stats, I didn't try to spin anything, and I don't even know where you are getting that I did? Your giving tebow attention so I guess that makes you a hypocrite -

You make it sound like the UFL was legit Pro football. They had a few stars and a lot of average to below average players. If anything playing 2 years in the UFL and then putting up those numbers at Tampa Bay makes it worse.LJ;954938 wrote:

BTW, I just think Tebow is a shitty player. -

That's moron-level arguing there. I wouldn't be talking about Tebow if the world wasn't so determined to shove him down everyone's throat. When you can't watch sports TV or go to sports websites without His name being prominently placed, it's hard not to get involved in discussions involving him. And when the person generating so much discussion sucks, it's annoying. The masses need educated.Skyhook79;954963 wrote:Your giving tebow attention so I guess that makes you a hypocrite -

I don't think he sucks. I think he's a terrible passer, but he and the Broncos would succeed in an offensive gameplan tailored specifically to his mediocre passing ability and precocious running ability.Heretic;954994 wrote: And when the person generating so much discussion sucks, it's annoying. .
Look, if the Dolphins got the Wildcat to succeed with Ronnie Brown, imagine having someone run the Wildcat who can actually pass. The only way I see Tebow succeeding is in an option based offense (similar to the one at Florida). People are quick to dismiss this saying it won't work in the NFL, but if the Wildcat can succeed as a tool on offense like it did with the Dolphins, then I see no reason why a Tebow run option offense couldn't work.
If the Broncos or any other team that acquires Tebow tries to make him a pocket passer, he will be terrible. -
gorocks99The Wildcat worked for like ... half a season, as a primary offensive set. Then the good teams figured it out. It would happen with a run option Tebow offense as well, IMO. Now, they could certainly (and should certainly) include a few similar plays in their playbook, but I don't think there's any way you could have the offense be primarily run option.

Yeah that would be great.....in college. Primarily running the wildcat in the NFL? That is laughable.lhslep134;955069 wrote:I don't think he sucks. I think he could be effective in a wildcat, hybrid type player role, but as a fulltime QB....hell no. -

lhslep has quickly turned into a moron with his posts. Haven't agreed with what he has been saying for quiet some time now. Seriously, a college offense tailored to tebows needs? laughable. start brady quinn or kyle fucking orton. -

If you're going to invest in Tebow, why not invest the effort to at least give it a shot? Look, they're not winning with Orton. They're not going to win with Tebow as a pocket passer. It doesn't need to be the straight wildcat per se, but Tebow needs to be in the shotgun. He simply sucks under center. The only time the Broncos moved the ball last game (few drive) Tebow was in shotgun. Then Fox put him under center, tried to make him traditional, and he did terrible (expectedly so). -
lhslep134
What other options do the Broncos have? Orton is a better passer but he has sucked for them. I didn't say the Tebow offense would work, I said it could work. I agree that saying it WOULD work is moronic, but there have been very few QBs with Tebows skillset (probably for good reason), so to just say no way it could work doesn't mean you're right.DeyDurkie5;955081 wrote:lhslep has quickly turned into a moron with his posts. This is essentially the point I'm trying to get across. Not trying to defend Tebow as some sort of all star QB or anything.

Like I said...I think a Tebow package would work, but an offense tailored his strengths would be a disaster.....maybe more so than the current situation.lhslep134;955086 wrote:If you're going to invest in Tebow, why not invest the effort to at least give it a shot? Remember when Dallas tried that shit with Quincy Carter? He got destroyed.
