Reds vs. Astros - Game 1
-
TigerNation10The streak goes on the road to Houston. The schedule looks nice over the next week or so, but that doesn't mean anything.
Arroyo (7-9, 5.58 ERA) vs Norris (5-7, 3.39 ERA)
*Side stat: If the Reds go 32-22 (85 wins) the rest of the way, that will put them at 10,000 wins as a franchise. -
jordo212000Norris is a solid pitcher, but Arroyo has to handle this lineup. It's put together with scotch tape and bubble gum. Gotta go for the sweep.

Yeah, but Arroyo pitches with smoke and mirrors..... -
daveThat should be enough against these guys. Bronson has 2 starts on this 6 game trip, any chance of a comeback is on him. His next starts are against Houston, Chicago, San Diego, and Florida.
-
daveWonder who will be starting at E6 tonight? I think Janish will go tonight since Edgar has success against Wandy.

That's understanding Dusty!
Janish is worse than ever...you can call him E6 but that's only 1/2 his name...he's F3 on offense. He's lost all confidence and right now his best place on the Reds would be as a pitcher in the 20th inning. As much as you and many other can't stand Renteria he can at least provide some offense. He is the guy until Cozart gets back....gotta be. -
Ironman92actually I thought they faced Wandy tonight and you were being facitious (or however you spell it).....
Vbookie thread up....go bet some please -
daveDrew Stubbs 8
Miguel Cairo 5
Joey Votto 3
Brandon Phillips 4
Jay Bruce 9
Yonder Alonso 7
Ryan Hanigan 2
Paul Janish 6
Bronson Arroyo 1
On paper probably the best offense from 1-6 all season. -
Ironman92Looks OK.....hopefully Stubbs hits some line drives cause those 2 hoppers in the 5.5 hole are a sign of great hitting. I could see Hanigan as the only player that might average over 3 pitches per at bat tonight......that's OK if it's the pitch you are looking for...but teh Reds are famous for it not being.

Except our starting SS tonight is probably not nearly as good for the Reds as the SS in A ball. -

Janish is terrible, but Hamilton is an atrocious fielder. -

You've seen him play?
He has a lot of errors, but I've heard a lot of that is because his range is ridiculous. He gets to more balls than Lindsay Lohan. -
se-alumAre there any good Tweeters to follow for Reds info on Reds minor league players. I would like to know what the organization thinks of Neftali Soto, and if he has a future w/ the big club.

justincredible@dougdirt is good for minor league info.

Basing it on stats and a Fay tweet sometime back. Unless you have a scorekeeper with a beef, getting to balls most wouldn't, shouldn't be scored an error. -
daveHamilton has made big progress in the field this year. I've been to 6-7 Dragons games this season. He's got a long way to go but he's heading in the right direction.
Now Alonso is another story. I hope those of you who haven't seen him yet get a chance to see how hilarious he can look in left assuming it doesn't hurt the team's chances to win. -

What was Alonso's defense like at 1st base? -
wildcats20Nice bunt by Cairo, but I would have liked to see him swinging....
-
daveI think I only saw him at first once this year, many times last year though. He's average, better than Dunn was. He won't get to as many balls as Votto does. He also won't try the flashy plays like Joey sidearming balls to second and sliding on his knees on bunted balls. He's steady, good at scooping balls in the dirt. He can flip it to the pitcher though, something Votto can't do well. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate Joey about a 7.5 and Yonder a 6.5. I go to more Dragons games than Bats games so I can't say how well he might have improved at 1B this year. Probably not much since he has spend so much time working in the outfield in spring training and during the year.

that bunt made no sense at all.wildcats20;848721 wrote:Nice bunt by Cairo, but I would have liked to see him swinging.... -
daveWow that kid looks no older than 15. Bronson just got hosed.
-
daveIf Janish could just hit .250 with an occasional double and field routine grounders he's be one hell of a SS.
-
wildcats20I hate CF lol
-
daveBruce and Yonder with shots. Don't see Hanny fail like that often.
