    lol, what?

Going forward, Ubaldo/Masterson/Tomlin wouldn't give us a better chance to win than Masterson/Tomlin/take your pick?

    Yeah, ok.

Also, it's not irrelevant. Stop spewing bullshit. Being 1.5 games out is far from being irrelevant.

We've had some good talent and failed to have winning seasons. The core from the 2007 team made the playoffs ONCE. ONCE. Get that through your fucking head before you talk "irrelevance" with me...

The Tribe addressed the staff, I expect them to go after a hitter in the offseason... I'm also banking on the continual improvement on guys like Santana, Brantley, Kipnis, and Chisenhall next season...

    Yeah, ok.

It is up for debate. Depending on how good you think Pomeranz and White will be. Now this year, I agree (though a bat was still the #1 need). But in the coming years there is certainly debate.

While you cant compare CC, he is a much better pitcher than Ubaldo. Like I said, I dont mind the trade, I think it drastically improves this team. I just think we gave up way more than we needed to.

My biggest beef is with the FO getting a fucking pitcher, when we need a bat like no ones business. We arent gonna do shit with 5 Walter Johnsons until we can get more than 5 runs in a series versus the fucking Royals.

You win with great pitching. Pitching is much harder to come by than hitting.... The Tribe could be set for at least the next 2 years with pitching, so this offseason they could address the need for another stick. The way the phrase "money isn't an issue" was being thrown around I expect that to be the case.

I don't know how good either will be.... I know how good Ubaldo is.

Alex White pitched 3 games and hasn't pitched since... How do I know that won;t be a lingering problem ala Adam Miller?

I'm not going to bitch about always being a seller then bitch when we're actually buyers. I like that the Tribe actually showed some balls to go for it. It seems to me that they are creating a 2 to 3 year window here to go for it all.

I agree. Ive said many times I dont mind the trade. I think in the long run it has a strong possibility to be horrible for us, but Id rather we make trades like that, upgrading immediately than not. I just think we could have used one of those guys and Kip or Chiz to get Hunter Pence. It wouldve been a better offer than Houston got. Our pitching wouldnt be quite as set as it is now, but we would easily have the best team in the Central, imo.

Maybe god will be kind to us and Choo will come back being the Choo of old...

Of course, he was hitting something like .500 during a nice stretch right before he went down with an injury. Just imagine how much a hot Choo would be helping this offense right now.

Now, I'm not banking on it, especially after coming back from a thumb injury.

It doesn't matter who you have pitching. There's not enough talent to win the World Series. That's why being 1.5 back doesn't matter.

A "hot" Choo would be the ONLY one hitting right now from what I've seen.

Before yesterday's game I heard on the radio broadcast that the previous 9 games the Tribe had a batting average of .193! Someone's got to start hitting.

Busy weekend. Didn't get a chance to read much of this thread or really anyone's thoughts on the Tribe moves. My take on the Jimenez deal is that we get a guy that at his best is completely dominant. Even if he is just what he has been for most of the last couple months he is a quality top of the rotation guy. He and Masterson give us a shot this year, and in 2012 and 2013 to win a 7 game series, coupled w/ whoever is the other hot pitcher to go in the 3 spot. We gave up 2 stud pitching prosepects, but they were exactly that, prospects. Could they both turn out to be as good or better than Ubaldo? Sure. They could also turn out to be busts/Jaret Wright. I know we gave up a lot, but as a fan of the Tribe, I am happy to see the front office being aggressive to go out and get a top of the rotation pitcher to give us a chance in a series against New York or Boston, if we are fortunate enough to get there.

On not getting a bat, I am a little disappointed, however I am not sure how much Ryan Ludwick would have helped this team. Unless they were able to pry Aramis Ramirez away from the Cubs, I didn't see anyone else besides Hunter Pence available that was going to drastically help this offense. They have to hope that at some point a couple of these guys wake up and get hot and that Choo can return and be a significant help. I also hope that in the offseason that the team is willing to spend some $ and add a right handed stick. I think it is going to be tough to win the central this year the way this offense is going, but I think they have set themselves up to be competitive for 2012 and 2013. And, if they are able to make it to the dance this year, they have a rotation that can keep them in and win ball games.
