  FYI....Aaron Harang is now 9-2 after just beating Cliff Lee in Philly and Micah Owings is 4-0 for the Diamondbacks.

  They also spend a lot, A LOT, more money. There's no reason the nets shouldn't always be good.

  Maybe he is saying that the Reds are only 3 games out in the worst division in baseball, while the Mets are 14 back?

  That is a big thing, although I don't know if that's the point he was trying to make. You almost have to feel bad for teams like the Mets and Blue Jays, as if they were in either Central Division, they'd be in contention for most of the season...while being in the Easts, they're also-rans.
  
  Like I said, "ALMOST" feel bad for them. I just love my team being barely above .500, but still tied for first place!

  Sorry, 2 NLCS in 11 years (2000 and 2006) ... my bad. Actually, 3 NLCS in 12 years (if you include 1999).
  
  Just saying, its not exactly like the Reds are a poster child of success. I have no beef with Cincy, but then again like Lotz noted, the poster may have been talking about positions in their respective divisional standings.

  If Janish can make routine plays I'm ok with him getting 40-50% of the starts. I have no doubt he will be slightly improved at the plate, those Louisville coaches are so much better than the staff in Cincy.

  Harang has just 2 losses......he's had what 10 or 12 starts on the road? He just beat Cliff Lee and the Phillies in Philly...can't knock that.

  The Reds best players are young and under team control for several years, they have a loaded farm system, and have many arms (Chapman, Cueto, Leake, Bailey, Volquez, Wood) that can be #1,2, or 3 starters. Attendance doesn't mean anything when you are comparing a team in Cincinnati with a team in New York.

  It does when there are 2 teams in New York, and one of them is the Yankees! Like I said, no problem with Cincy, just don't see how they are a better organization right now, that's all.

  Could be that his good home performances have blended into his road starts due to confidence, since so much of the sport is mental. Giving up three homers a start (which is what it felt like he was doing last year, if not exactly factual) does wear on a guy after a while. As a Pirates fan, Charlie Morton is a textbook case of that. A good part of his improvement this year involves his mechanics being tinkered with, but part also is mental. Last year, a blog I read mentioned more than once that he was just mentally out of things after his initial struggles and bad innings would explode into horrible outings.

  I remember some blaming GABP for some of his ERA and giving up HR troubles and did a search and found his ERA to be less at home than on the road in those bbad seasons.

  I'm so happy for the dude, too bad he's on a shitty team. There really isn't a team he could go to right now that would be a fit for him either, maybe Detroit.
  
  Pretty sure I've shared this story before, but my wife is a nurse at Children's and Harang came to her floor about once a month. Never had any cameras, media, etc with him. He spent hours there. I assume he did this on all the floors there. He's just a class act all the way around.

  He's also given up 6 HRs in PETCO compared to 3 on the road, albeit in 4 more home starts.

  He gave up 5 homers when he got rocked in back to back losses at home awhile back. Only other bad start was at Coors.

  4.01 is still respectable nowadays in the bigs. Def is helped pitching at home with that ERA. W-L dont tell all the stories. Always like him...glad he is doing well.
  
  Few weeks they come to Cincy. Local kid is in the rotation for the padres and doing amazingly well. Its trending he, Cory Luebke, could pitch Saturday night vs the reds
