Things should be heating up...post rumors and trades here along with your trade ideas.

The rumor here in NYC is that the Red Sox are very interested in Carlos Beltran, but not sure of what the Mets could actually get for him (although his recent All-Star selection certainly helps his value a bit).

    Hopefully there are some blockbusters!
  • BRF
Austin Kearns has now been taken off the trade block.

Ain't it ironic that the Tribe is not unloading this year?
  • hoops23
Nope, instead the Tribe is actually looking for a right handed bat.
  • Wooball
Should be interesting to see what the Tribe does before the July 31st trade deadline. In the past Dolan has said that ownership will spend when the team is ready to compete. Within the last couple weeks, Antonetti has said that they will wait to see how the team plays for a little while longer before making a deal. Before the end of the month the Tribe has:
    2 vs NYY
    4 vs TOR
    4 at BAL
    4 at MIN
    3 vs CWS
    3 vs LAA
    3 vs KC
If they play well, they have a chance to better their record. 15 of their 23 games the rest of this month are at home and the 8 road games are against teams under .500. Their 2 biggest needs are a right handed bat, and it would be nice to add a quality left handed starter with some experience.

They have nice depth of starters in the minors, as well as some infielders at AAA/Cleveland that could be used:
Pitchers: Alex White, Drew Pomeranz, Nick Hagadone, Zach McAllister, Jeanmar Gomez, Scott Barnes, David Huff, Kelvin De La Cruz, Hector Rondon, Mike Rayl, Josh Judy
Position players: Lonnie Chisenhall, Cord Phelps, Jason Kipnis, Luis Valbuena, Jason Donald, Ezequiel Carrera, Matt McBride and Jesus Aguilar at A-ball.

I'd say Chisenhall, White and Pomeranz are untouchable, but I think anyone of those other guys could be put into a deal to acquire a right handed bat.

This year's weird, as I have no idea what (if anything) the Pirates will do. They're in contention, so they shouldn't be sellers, but July will be interesting to see if that holds up. The early part of the month, they have the Cubs and Astros so, in theory, they'll stay in good contention. But they finish with games with the Reds, Cards, Brewers and Braves. Then, after a few early August series with the Cubs and Astros, they have about a 20-day stretch against those good teams if you replace the Braves with the Giants.

I can't see them being big purchasers, but I can't see them selling.
  • Azubuike24
The Pirates could still trade a piece or two, but at the same time continue to contend and possibly even upgrade. If he continues to heat up, I'd think they would definitely move Overbay. If they could get a huge haul for Maholm, I'd move him too. He's pitching way above his career numbers.

Move a guy like Overbay and it might free up enough to make a bigger move to maybe upgrade the bullpen and/or rotation with someone more longer-term. Given the division, they are in it for the long-haul IMO.
  • Midstate01
Pirates should just stay where they are. Don't give up too much to get one guy, and don't give away guys just to save money. They are right where the reds were a few years ago. Let things run their course, and if a deal comes along that can really help you, then you move on it.

Hmmm...I heard St Louis was willing to deal Pujols for him straight up? ;)

I'm baffled as to why...the Marlins are one of the few teams with absolutely zero chance to contend for anything...

    I GOT IT!

Jack McKeon was the Reds' manager when they traded Mike Cameron to Seattle for Ken Griffey Jr. Maybe Jack and Mike were buddies for a short-time before the trade? I can't think of any other justifiable reason...

i wish there was any way the indians could get aramis ramirez but no chance that happens (whether it be ramirez's no trade clause or being too rich for the indians blood for just a rental)

    What about Chisenhall?
  • se-alum
I look for the Reds to deal Hernandez, and they have plenty of chips in the minors to deal. They obviously need a right handed bat behind Votto.

The White Sox are scouting pitching from Atlanta.

Brandon Beachy and Derek Lowe are 2 names that have come up

They could trade Dunner to the Braves and he and Uggla could race to 80 hits on the season.

I would love to send Grady to a team and grab a power bat in lf and move Brantley to center
  • Crimson streak
Maybe Sizemore and a prospect or 2 for pence and wandy rodriguiz
  • Crimson streak
    Edit...wrong thread

That would be amazing. I would give up a top guy and Grady for Pence and Wandy. Solid addition to the staff (depth purposes; sub 4 ERA for 3 years and this one) and a proven .300/25/90 guy who hits righty and plays the OF. Plus, signed for a few more years I think. I love the guys we have in Columbus, but you cant keep them in favor of proven guys under contract.

I pray that the White Sox take Derek Lowe.

Its going to take a lot more than Grady Sizemore to get Pence and Rodriguez. Latest rumor is Astros have no interest in moving Pence.

Right. Gomez, Kipnis, Phelps, etc would all be in play if I was the GM.

Astrons don't want to trade Pence,

    and...
"It’s no secret that [Wandy Rodriguez] is being watched closely by the Yankees, who have sent a few people to watch some of his starts," Cafardo writes. As FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal noted a few weeks ago, the Yankees would want Rodriguez at the back of their rotation while the Astros would want a trade package befitting an ace, so there may not be a fit between the two teams. Cafardo notes that Brett Myers "also remains on the Yankees' radar."

Indians would have to give up an ace. Maybe Gomez?(is he considered an "ace"?)
