Indians would have to give up an ace. Maybe Gomez?(is he considered an "ace"?)

I understand they dont want to trade Pence. But if someone offers a starting CF and a top prospect...they have no choice but to listen. It may not be enough in the end, but they wont just hang up the phone. Pence is under contract, but that team is going nowehere fast.

Also, Wandy Rodriguez isnt an Ace. If they are expecting an Ace in return, they are gonna have him till he signs elsewhere. He is a good pitcher. Top 3, #2 on an OK team, but a 3 on a team that is going to really contend.

The Astros need a starting cf?

If they trade Bourn yes. Even if they dont, move one of them to left and Lee to right.

I hope the Reds trade Dusty Baker.

Lee has played nearly every game of his career in LF...no way he goes to RF

Pence is under team control through 2013. He is making $6.9 million this year. His contract is pretty affordable on a contending team, but for the Astros to pay him what he will win in arbitration the next 2 offseasons doesn't make any sense. Wandy Rodriguez is a similar situation. He signed a 3 year $34 million contract this January. That is quite a bit for a guy that isn't a true ace on a team that is going to lose close to 100 games.

With the way the trade market is shaping up, it is going to be difficult to get either one of those guys, let alone both without giving up someone the Tribe considers a stud. And, Jeanmar Gomez probably isn't seen as any better than a #3 starter in the bigs. Wandy could probably be had without giving up White, Pomeranz or Chisenhall. If they want to go after Pence, I would imagine 1 of those 3 would have to be involved. IF they could move Sizemore to help replace some of the pitching depth that I'm sure they would need to unload to acquire Pence, I would be interested.

I think Ryan Ludwik or Jeff Francoeur are more likely targets. Both would come cheaper than Pence.

It wouldn't be the big splash people might be looking for, but his #'s aren't too bad this year:
.264/10HR/46RBI - Those 46 RBI and power from the right side would be nice to put in this line-up. Also, Choo is saying he may be back by mid-August. The PD said his cast was removed yesterday.

For his career his second half numbers have been better than his first half. He performed pretty well for Texas last year after they acquired him from the Mets.

He has 12 HR and 55 RBI and 14 SB...best OF arm in baseball

even better, those #'s were from a Kansas City Star article I read last week where he was talking about being ready to have a big 2nd half.

Maybe Sizemore and a prospect or 2 for pence and wandy rodriguiz

Its going to take a lot more than Grady Sizemore to get Pence and Rodriguez. Latest rumor is Astros have no interest in moving Pence.
I know, right haha? How does that deal help Houston at all? You're going to have to take a steep discount on Grady due to his injury issues and recent performance. Indians are best to keep playing him and building up his value

Not a trade, but twitter rumor from a so called reliable source has Zach Cozart being called up today.

Saw that, hopefully it's not to just sit on the bench.

Well, to be fair to myself, I meant 1 or the other, not both. They may not make the deal, but a top 3 prospect and Sizemore (or someone else) isnt a preposterous inquiry.

John Fay tweeted that there is a Zach Cozart registered at the Reds hotel in Milwaukee and that his locker is cleared out.

Also another rumor going around is that Renteria is going to be DFA'd to make room.
