I think Dusty was correct on both counts. Renteria nearly burned Jay. If that would have gotten over his head, Stubbs and Hernandez would have hit the plate within milliseconds of each other. -
daveTomlin with a no hitter thru 6 against the Yanks on mlb network.

Many ways to go about it. Renteria just won it against David Price a couple starts ago. Cairo/Heisey/Gomes might give a better shot of hitting there, but that would also force Janish in at SS and one less player to use from the 8 th inning on.
Actually since it's still just the 7th and not the 8th I ( gasp) agree with Dusty....not whole-heartedly but more than usual. -

How many hits does Jeter have? -
Ironman92It, for me, comes down to the fact Cueto is fire hot, the Cards have not scored and his pitch count was good. Trying to develop an ACE.

karen lotzKansas City leads the White Sox 3-0 in the 4th.
-
mhs95_06Smart, smart by Cueto in not giving in to Berkman and letting him hit one out, and planning on getting his outs elsewhere, which turned out both on the next hitter, so it didn't get him any closer to turning over the batting order again, leaving him 6,7,8,9 for the 8th. Hopefully they won't get to #9 and they'll leave Carpenter in past his time.

That makes me laugh every time. -
daveLewis is close to going on a tear.
-
mhs95_06Ump gives a strike on another pitch outside on the 1-0 to Votto.

Really worked to the benefit of the Reds as he would have walked on four pitches if the ump got it right. Instead Carpenter uses 9 pitches and Votto still ends up on first! -

I agree he has done a good job, with the exception of whiffing on that hanger right in the hitting zone. -
mhs95_06Need a grounder from Molina!
-
Ironman92I think this is his tear. He's done well.
-
daveHe's been a singles hitter, but the last few starts he's really starting to drive the ball. Hopefully he finds the gaps this week.
-
mhs95_06Great job by Molina. I think it was fortunate that Cueto bobbled it to take the enticement out of trying for 2nd!
-
Ironman92That's the fastest I've ever seen a pitcher turn to pickoff a runner.

I think it was fortunate as well.....Great job by Molina. -
Ironman92Thank You Skip for trying to be powerful and not pesky.
-
mhs95_06I don't like it when Stubbs is there in plenty of time and he does not get himself positioned the best he can to make a good throw.

Stubbs has upper echelon CF abilities....but he's not upper echelon. -

Amen! -
Midstate01Damn. Cueto deserved better.
-
mhs95_06Was that even a fair ball? What a great effort by Rolen. Why didn't Stubbs make a better throw? That was big getting to 3rd on the fly. Two productive outs that typically the Reds don't make!
-
Midstate01It looked fair to me. And no way stubbs could throw him out at third
