Bruce was running full speed and really didn't slide very far.

Yeah I know. But I wear shorts for soccer and its nicer to slide on that that grass and real dirt. I mean, its going to always hurt a bit, but I get strawberries from real dirt and grass even with pants when I used to play ball.

And Larry Doby was on 2nd base, and had to hold at 3rd because Mays spun and got it back to the infield. Should have been at least an RBI. Then you factor the ball traveled about 460 feet, because of the game being at the Polo Grounds. It just had all the elements. The catch itself, maybe not the greatest, but with everything else involved...its pretty damn special. Plus, his glove is a POS compared to what the guys have now lol

It was excellent...I'm not getting too excited that he kept a runner that had to tag from scoring....ball is 460 feet away and Doby is going to take 7 1/2 seconds to score.....getting the ball in quickly is necessary.....but 7+ seconds is something any CF could do.

no no, I mean the catch prevented Doby from scoring. Which he wouldve easily on the double or triple that would have resulted. It was 2-2 in the top of the 8th, in the first game of the World Series. Doesnt get any bigger of a stage.

Alright....but I say he catches it against the Reds in the middle of May in a 7-- game as well.

Yeha, Im not saying the actual catch is that great. We have established its been done many times. Im saying for as big as the stage was and what was at stake. Not many have ever been made that are bigger...plenty better, maybe none bigger.

Nice game by the Reds. Pitching and timely hitting will get ya wins. The starting pitching has been very good of late.
