I agree. But at the same time he turned down 24 million a year...so he is doing whats good for the team and isnt for the money. Irsay was DEAD set on giving him at least 23 million and more than Brady. Peyton basically laughed and said, "no, we cant afford that. I dont want to be the highest paid if it means we lose". -

I think a 1 year deal is terrible..he's not gonna be good his first year back...sorry, but he's been in damn prison for 2 years, he's gonna do good for the team he signs with next year IMO -
Hb31187I bet he he'll have like 700-800 yards and 6 or 7 tds this year

Didn't say that. What I'm saying is that the Jets have basically become the Washington Redskins of the AFC (with a bit more success). They will throw money at anyone and everyone for that elusive ring.
But, as was mentioned, I'll be very intrigued to see just how effective he is this year. Should be a good red zone target for Sanchez to lob it up to....that's about it. Holmes will be their "go to" guy. -

Hm I just got a text saying the Giants want a 1st round pick for him and Baltimore is thinking of taking the deal. -
bradmaynardI'm on the fence about this one but its not like the Bears haven't already regressed enough that they might as well go for it. Israel Idonije is 30 and coming off an 8 sack season that can be almost entirely attributed to Julius Peppers (equal to the number of sacks he had in his entire career prior). Give the Giants Idonije and a 3rd rounder that Jerry is just going to spend on a guy with a Youtube video of him jumping out of a pool anyway, and we may be on to something here. I know he is a 30 year old with a hip problem and Justin Tuck lined up across from him but either way he's a lot more talented that Idonije.

I highly doubt that happens. That would easily make him the biggest FA steal in a lonnng time. -

When you look at Vick, he really did not turn it on until his second year back. I have to think IF Plaxico is able to come back, it will take just as long for him to be effective.
Of course, my point still could be valid and maybe 99% of people cannot make it back and Vick is just a freak of nature.
Mike vick wasn't 33 yrs old either. -
IggyPride00Kamerion Wimbley agrees to $48M deal
Kamerion Wimbley, the Oakland Raiders' franchise player, agreed to a five-year, $48 million contract extension Monday.
Wimbley had been set to play for the $11.3 million franchise tag tender before agreeing to the long-term deal.
Wimbley will be guaranteed $29 million in the deal, while the Raiders get additional room under the salary cap.
This was the ESPN report.
That is a TON of guaranteed money for that guy.
While he undoubtedly is better than he was in Cleveland, I don't think he has improved to the level of money the Raiders are paying him. -
imex99Sanzenbacher catches a lot of attention

It was difficult to not notice undrafted rookie wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher during the Bears’ muggy Monday night practice, their first with pads. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder from Ohio State is one of the smaller players in camp, but he made several big plays on a still, humid night under the lights. A couple of deep sideline routes and another couple in the middle of the field, flashing sure hands and enough quickness to create separation.

“That’s what you expect from a Buckeye,” said coach Lovie Smith, who coached linebackers at Ohio State in 1995. “He had a lot of different opportunities coming in, and he chose us.
“He’s a good football player. We want to get the players in game-type situations, and he’s making the most of it.
“We all noticed him tonight.”
Sanzenbacher was a team captain and the Buckeyes’ MVP last season, when he caught 55 passes for 948 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Especially this year, when new players haven’t had the luxury of learning the playbook in the off-season, Sanzenbacher will have a narrow window to earn a job.
“I haven’t had a choice but to raise my game,” he said. “Having everything shrunk down with the lockout, it’s an even more limited amount of time for rookies to get reps, and you have to make the best of your opportunities out here.”
Moving the pieces:
First-round draft pick Gabe Carimi took all his snaps at right tackle with the first team Monday night after working at left tackle with the twos during the first two days of camp, and indications are that’s where he will remain.
That necessitated a shift of last year’s No. 1 right tackle J’Marcus Webb to the left tackle spot, which also appears to be the direction the O-line is headed.
Frank Omiyale, last year’s starting left tackle, took his snaps with the second team Monday.
Making progress:
While the Bears are closer to giving running back Matt Forte a well-deserved extension than they were early in the summer, a deal doesn’t appear imminent.
Forte has a year left on his rookie contract, a four-year, $3.78 million pact that included $2 million in guaranteed money and pays him a base salary of $550,000 this season.
“I wouldn’t give him anything definitive,” general manager Jerry Angelo said of earlier talks with Adisa Bakari, Forte’s agent. “I had my thoughts, but I’m very measured when I talk about players’ contracts, particularly extensions.
“We have a pretty good track record of doing it. I told him, ‘I can’t give you any timetable. That’s not possible.’ He didn’t like hearing it. But that’s the way things go sometimes.”
But there has been progress.
“When we talked these past weeks, I told him now our intent is to do that (extension),” Angelo said. “That’s a strong word. When I say intent, then we’re motivated to do something. The timetable is yet to be determined.
“(I told him) ‘Just be patient. Take care of your job as you already have and continue to do that and then we’re going to do our part.’ We’ve got to find that common ground. That part of it will be a challenge.
“You’re not talking about an unrestricted free agent. When there’s an open market there, you bid. But he’s not a UFA. That’s the challenge. I feel optimistic, but we’ll just let that work itself out.”
Personnel moves:
Punter Richmond McGee and undrafted rookie defensive tackle Sean Murnane, a Carmel High School graduate, were released Monday.

Not official, just rumors -
bigdaddy2003Does anyone know where to find the team's payroll? I need to see who the Ravens are paying big bucks for that is keeping them at cap level.
-
bigdaddy2003Giants have lowered their asking price to a 2nd round pick for Usi/Osi and the Ravens are checking into getting Malcolm Floyd.

BR1986FBOsi has now apparently been pulled off the market by the Giants because nobody would dish out a 1st. Let's see if they lower their demands.

Actually, they never lowered their price from a 1st....and I saw this in numerous places well after you posted that. Schefter speculated that they lowered their demands but they didn't. I think they will, eventually, though.
Teams like the Ravens, Jets, Pats, etc can't afford Osi anyhow. He'd have to give them a DEEP discount and I don't see that. -

Ah ok. Yeah, you are right about those teams not being able to afford him.BR1986FB;850872 wrote:Actually, they never lowered their price from a 1st....and I saw this in numerous places well after you posted that. Watch, he'll sign for league minimum to play for Philly because everyone else is. -
bigdaddy2003Derrick Mason is visiting with the Jets today and the Ravens supposedly made Malcolm Floyd and offer. Ravens signed Bernard Pollard who I had never heard of but supposedly he's a decent safety.
