NBA Finals: LeBron and the Heat vs. Dirk and the Mavericks

Lebron is very immature, but what did you expect. Look how he was raised, who raised him, what he was given and how he was treated at an early age.

    Well done.

not sure what you mean by this..i know what a travel, foul, or charge is...there isn't much room for "fans" to be irrational or have a bias.

    well said.

4 steps is not subjective...it is either allowed by the best per orders of the NBA or it is the worst 6 eyes in officiating history.

That's hardly news fellas. As for the game-- I haven't seen anything to make me think LBJ will be a force in the 4th scoring and when he isn't, they're losing. Everything I'm seeing is telling me they're going to lose. But I'll take them to win 92-89. Pretty much because I honestly don't put it past Stern to give a little incentive for their to be a game 7. The crew tonight is Steve Javie, Derrick Stafford, and Scott Foster. Out of all the main referees in the playoffs, those 3 are the highest home team win % refs. However, Stafford actually favors the away team when he's just part of the crew seeing as Javie is the main tonight.

Maybe the Mavs players should mock Wade's hip injury and for going into the locker room twice to get "treatment" and come back and play like nothing was ever wrong both times.

Maybe the media should focus on the game and not the off the court BS. I blame reality TV.

"Fan" is short for fanatic. You can show a play where Wade take four steps in Dallas 88% will say travel, in Miami 20% will agree travel. Is something different, only the bias of the "fan".
  • Ironman92
Fans are ridiculously biased for the most part...but I do not believe Wade can take 4 steps without dribbling and not get called and only 20% of Miami fans think it is a travel. I'm far more likely to believe they are 99.5% happy it was not called while 95% know it was a travel but the NBA lets the stars get away with it and they are happy it gets automatically overlooked. Even most of the insanely biased fans on here know when they are on the good side of a bad/no call.

No way is 20% even close....though 94.3% of all statistics are made up.

Have at it. Why should anybody care? What Wade, Lbj, Stevenson, or anybody else says or does off the court right now is none of my concern. It may or may not come into play on the court.

It seems, to me, that when he was in Cleveland, he seemed to say all the right things, most of the time. Now it just seems like everything that comes out of his mouth makes you scratch your head. The biggest "dumb" thing I can recall him saying in Cleveland was the "these fans have been spoiled by my play" comment (or something to that effect).

Promising a title to Cleveland was idiotic. You think he said all the right things because he said what you wanted to hear as a Cleveland fan. It is funny that the "promise" still comes up as fodder for why he's such a POS, but the one truth he told (spoiled fans) is used as the only bad example you can come up with from his days there. Dude was ALWAYS a dumb ass. Perspective on his comments is entirely determined by whether you love him or hate him.

Yeah, I guess you could add the promise too but it seemed like, for the most part, most of the things he said were pretty "PC." He wasn't doing stupid crap like saying "that's retarded" and making fun of someones illness on camera.

Yup. I called him out several times over the past 2 years and before he took his talents to South Beach, I was labeled a troll. It's much easier to see Lebron for what he is when you take off the wine and gold glasses

Bill Simmons on what is at stake for the last two Finals games (I picked out his funnier observations):
Jason Terry: After draining the single biggest irrational confidence shot by someone not named Ali Farokhmanesh (Terry's 3 to clinch Game 5 of the Finals), he's climbing up the all-time Irrational Confidence charts and breathing down Vernon Maxwell's neck. Just remember, Mad Max has a ring.

The Miami Welcome Party: We're one Dallas victory away from it becoming permanently funny.

Mike Bibby: $6.417 million. That's what he gave up next season to chase a ring this season

Erik Spoelstra: If they lose, I'd like to sum things up with the words of a rowing Fredo Corleone. Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb … (KAPOW!)

Dwyane Wade's "Eff You" 3:7 We're one Dallas win away from that becoming an iconic "don't count your chickens before they hatch" sports moment. You can't do that crap unless you know, with absolute certainty, that the series is over. For instance, Larry Legend iced the '86 Rockets in Game 6 by grabbing a loose ball with the shot clock winding down, dribbling through three people just so he could plant himself in front of Houston's bench, then draining a 3 with his ass in their faces. Game over. That's when you do it. Wade jumped the gun. If they lose, he will never live it down.

Peja Stojakovic: Wait, he's still alive?

Tyson Chandler: Actually, it's already happened win or lose — he's basically turned into 2008 Kevin Garnett but without a jump shot. Along with Dirk Nowitzki, James Harden, Dwyane Wade, and Zack Randolph, he's one of the five biggest winners of the 2011 Playoffs.[

Chris Bosh: A decent lock to be traded this summer if Miami blows this series. There will have to be a scapegoat. You know, other than Spoelstra

Brian Cardinal: Balding/sweaty/doughy immortality. A role model and idol for a future generation of Haleys and Scalabrines.

Jason Kidd: A much-belated ring, a historical bump (from top 40 to top 35), the memory that he was an extremely rich man's version of what GP gave the 2006 Heat, and also living proof to Rajon Rondo that ANYONE can turn into a deadly 3-point shooter with some work.

Cleveland fans: Maybe they haven't won a title since the 1960s, but what's unfolding in this series is damned close. It's like when beaten-down Boston fans took pride in Ray Bourque winning a Cup in Colorado, only the exact opposite.

ABC & ESPN: Don't tell anyone, but if there's a Game 7, Disney makes an extra $110 billion (all numbers approximate). You might see everyone on Dallas foul out in Game 6. I think Tyson Chandler already has 2 fouls and the game doesn't start for another 48 hours.

Dwyane Wade: If Miami pulls this off and he's the hero (our most likely scenario), that puts the following things in play historically: (a) "Kobe vs. Wade" becomes an argument; (b) any "clutch Finals players" list has to include him; (c) any "best player alive" argument begins with him first; (d) he has to be mentioned in any list that includes the best 20 players ever from that point forward; and (e) we'll remember him forever as an evil genius who somehow convinced his biggest archrival to move to HIS city, play for HIS team, and become HIS sidekick.

That article is biased, Mike Miller wouldn't have started over Anthony Parker last year for the Cav's? gtfo. Mike Miller is way better than AP, better shooter, one of the best rebounding guards in the NBA, can handle the ball and can pass, also his bball iq is through the roof not mentioning the fact that he can defend the 2 or 3 and even some 4's if he gets switched off. Mike Miller has scored 18 a game in the NBA for a whole season.

    Agreed.

    Mahinmi has already fouled out.
  • I Wear Pants
I don't see what's so subjective about basketball officiating. It's either in the rules or not, things like how many steps you can take before dribbling, etc are not subjective.

the subjective part is pretty much what Stern is whispering in their ears. And also, it is the only sport where there is a separate rules for "superstars"
  • I Wear Pants
Then it's bad officiating and not that it's hard to officiate. It isn't like there are many instances of things that are actually subjective like there are in some sports.

thats pretty debatable. Mike Miller scoring 18 in the nba for one who season has nothing to do with whether he would have started over Parker. Parker was a great 3 point shooter (top 3 in the league last year). Matter of fact Gibson was in the top 3 as well. Parker was also probably the best defender for the Cavs outside of Lebron maybe. AP was wanted by the Rockets around the trade deadline this season, so obviously he has some value.

I hate to say it but for this reason I have to pick Miami tonight. The Angel of Stern will certainly want another few days of exposure. Miami by at least 5. Plus you have to figure Lebron wont fall asleep in the 4th qtr for the third consecutive game

Can you READ? What part of "up for debate" don't you understand? The first point of that article is what Cavs fans have been TRYING to say but out resident "rocket scientist" has been saying "oh no, Cavs fans are mad BECAUSE he left, not HOW he left."
