Tribe Hosting Mariners-Series Thread

  • TBone14
I thought I would try my hand at starting one of these. The wifey and I will be in attendance on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Weather should be alright and we are hoping for some W's.

    Friday is Carmona vs Fister
    Saturday is White vs Bedard
Sunday is TBD for the Tribe vs Pineda for the Mariners.

Pineda is pretty tough, but hopefully the offense can get right vs Fister and Bedard.

Anyone else heading up to the yard this weekend?

We need to get back the "Jacobs Field" magic. Seems like we've been facing one good pitcher after another for the last week or so. Hopefully we get it going this weekend. Detroit is starting to put it together.

I like the pitching match ups. Sunday should be Tomlin's turn.

    I'll be there Sunday

Tribe offense is on a little slump right now.. We avoid King Felix, so this is the perfect time to get them going again.

Welcome Wedgie back to the Jake in style.

    Good job, TBone!

Time to get our Tribe Train back on the tracks.

Here's a pic I found of you doing the job:

    Go Tribe!

Hopefully we are going for the sweep versus Pineda, he is a special kid. Gonna be a stud (if he isnt already).

2/3 gets us a .500 home stand, which at this point, I'll gladly take.

The '69 Seattle Pilots......name 'em. I only know one, Jim Bouton.

"Ball Four"! Manager: Joe Shultz (probably misspelled last name but who cares?) and one player I remember was Piniella.

Who hit the first home run at the Jake, Gardens?

Wow! That is awesome. You were at the very first game there!

BRF is highly impressed! Do you remember who scored the winning run?
  • BRF
    Yes, yes, rider1! Good stuff.

Bedard is a good pitcher when healthy. He started badly this year but he's put up 3 straight good outings. Pineda is a beast.

The Mariners offense is abysmal to balance it out though. Probably not many runs to be scored this weekend.

Actually Lou Piniella never played for Seattle, but did manage there in the 90's, he played for Baltimore, Cleveland, and Kansas City before the Yankees got him. Cleveland lost him to Seattle in the 1968 expansion draft but he was traded to Kansas City before the 1969 season started. They actually had him twice but lost him to the Washington expansion team in 1962, was traded to Baltimore and later the Indians traded Cam Carreon to Baltimore for him then later lost him to Seattle. He spent 3 seasons in the Indians minors and only played 6 games for them.

Saw the 1st night game at Jacobs Field and the 1st Indian home run there. Who hit it?

haha nope. I dont remember hardly a thing. I just know who hit the HR, cause I looked it up like 7 years ago trying to remember who it was.

My dads best friend is DiBiasio, so he hooks us up when we can make the trip over. Thats how we had the tickets. Just lucky i guess.

Exactly. I'm not going to get greedy with the way this team has been hitting as of late.

Any idea when Grady will be back in the lineup?
  • hasbeen
I originally planned to go to the Sunday game because this is the only series where my Mariners are close by, but I'm broke like a joke.
  • TBone14
If you have XM/Sirius, Grady will be on MLBNetworkRadio with Cal Ripken at 1:20. It's XM 89 and Sirius 209.

Chris Perez will be on the radio with Rome at 2:20. Jungle Karma for the weekend. I like it.
  • hoops23
    Jungle Karma is always good.

12 games since 4/29 the Indians have faced 7 of the top 20 ERA pitchers in the AL.

Tribe is 7-5 in those games.
