Tribe - Rays; May 10-12
-
Laley23Rays come to town for a 3 game set. Since the 0-6 and 1-8 start, the Rays are absolutely on fire, now with a record that sees them share the AL East lead with the NYY at 20-14.
The Tribe, well we all know about them and their 22-11 record.
Thoughts on this series? I think we take game 1 and 3. Outside shot at a sweep if they can get to Price who has been up and down this year, but Gomez will have to be very sharp. I think Tomlin and Masterson can keep up thei good starts versus the Rays.
Probable starters:
Tomlin (4-1) Sonnanstine (0-0)
Gomez (0-1) Price (4-3)
Masterson (5-0) Shields (3-1) -
OQBTribe vs Angels, you mean Rays?

though if we win the series, the next thread will be Tribe - Rays until someone corrects me...lol -
OQBhaha I even told you don't screw up! HAHA it's all good man, no big deal!
Go Tribe! -
wes_mantoothlaley failing already....this series is going to be a disaster...lmao
-
BR1986FBThis series won't be easy. Rays are on a pretty decent roll too, winning their last 4 and 7 out of their last 10.

They are 19-6 since their 1-8 start. Hottest team in baseball. -
OneBuckeyeMasterson v Sheilds will be a great pitching matchup. Hopefully the bats heat up again at the PROG.
-
royal_kThree very good pitching staffs in a row. It will be another good test and probably the same type of games as the last 2 series. Manny Acta calls it home cooking. Hopefully they eat good.
-
mucalum49Battle of the best home team Indians (13-2) vs. the best road team Rays (11-4). Hoping the Rays can get 2 of 3. I think Price will get the W. Indians win when Gomez pitches. That last pitching matchup will be a good one though. My family was in town and I checked out the Indians for the first time this year. I was thinking they didn't have staying power but they seem dialed in and I think they may be the real deal.

hoops23Price and Gomez are facing each other, how can they both win?
-
mucalum49My bad, meant to say Tomlin.
-
MulvaGotta like the Tribe's odds with Tomlin going and not like them so much against Price. Shields is dealing so far this year, but we usually fare pretty well against him.
-
BRFBRF checking in.
I had a good run going with starting threads, but it's time to pass the baton and happy to see Laley start this one. Coming off that road trip at 3-3 is quite good and we were in every one of the 3 losses. BTW, I do not like those late games!!!
Now, let's keep this ball rolling!
Go Tribe! -
FootwedgeWell....it was just announced that Gomez has been sent down. My guess is that Carrasco will take his spot. Depending on how Carrasco does, I could see White replacing him in the rotation once Talbot comes back.
-
BRFThat is good news!
-
Laley23Glad too see the Tribe didnt make the mistake of sending Alex White back down because of some BS reason. Plain and simple, he is better than Gomez. Carrasco has been good in 3 of his 5 starts, and 1 of the 2 he was bad in, he got hurt. I think he can be a solid starter. It is nice to have 7 options though
-
burt07Yeah Carrasco needs to show something in these next few weeks or he's not going to have a job once Talbot comes back. I still don't know what to really think with Talbot either though, he looked pretty good in those first few starts but he started hot last year as well before pretty much collapsing in the 2nd half of the season. Basically I just really like Alex White haha.

FootwedgeA great article on Tomlin today at Indians.com. He was drafted in the 19th round because he threw as hard as Greg Maddox. I love watching the guy pitch...in and out...up and down...never walks anyone. Sometimes scouts get it wrong.
Tomlin has the best WHIP in the American league right now. -
TBone14Looking forward to this series. Two of the AL's best.
-
hoops23They talked about josh Tomlin before his first start of the season and how he worked with Charlie Nagy during the offseason.
-
OneBuckeyeI hate Mondays, nothing on TV in the evening and all I want to do is watch the Tribe.

Charlie is the pitching coach in Arizona and has a real young staff there that he is slowly improving. The high-touted bust for the Yankees, Ian Kennedy, has had a promising start to the season under Nagy's instruction. -

Nothing besides 2 overtime NBA playoff games and an extra innings boston game on ESPN -
BR1986FBI just got an e-mail from a client in the Tampa area talking smack about this upcoming series. Says the Rays are going to send the Tribe back to the days of "Major League' (before they went on a roll). WTF? I hardly know this guy.
