Joe Tait's last game - TONIGHT!

  • THE4RINGZ
While I am not a fan of the NBA, Joe Tait is broadcasting his last Cavaliers game tonight. He is a true icon in Cleveland sports. When I think about the soundtrack of my life, Joe Tait is in it. Driving in the car, hearing him call a game. Good memories.

    Good Luck Mr. Tait.

I remember when he and Bruce Drennan did Indian's games. I was helping out at a greenhouse in the summers and used to listen to them on the radio.

I remember, "Yes there is a Santa Claus and he comes from Lubbock, Texas!" ...speaking of Craig Ehlo hitting a game winning three.

I was at the game Friday for Joe Tait Tribute Night and it was really touching. They unveiled a Joe Tait banner in the Q and had a video tribute to him. All of the players wore Tait style sweaters during their intro video and the Scream Team performed in them as well. He was given a couple gifts and the sold special tshirts for him. I won't lie..I was tearing up. He is truly one of the greatest of all time and I will miss listening to him.

Love me some Joe Tait on the radio. He is as much a cavs legend as Mark Price and Larry Nance. It will be very weird listening to the cavs when he is not on.

I thought it was the coolest thing back in the day when a certain purple ball spinning group I was in got him on tape to indtroduce us at half time of basketball games. Good times.

Wham with the right hand is even better when prefaced by "to the line, to the lane..."

I was at his first game back this year in late March and a simple "welcome back" message over the PA had the whole joint on their feet. Probably the loudest the arena got all night.

I think it was 5th and 6th graders when I did it so that would have been 96-97 and 95-96 seasons I think.

I remember all the other media guys (McCloud, Carr, Campy, Phelps) all wore sweaters to honor him, and when the ceremony stopped Joe's first words were, "Thank you Mike...and let me tell you I have never seen so many ugly sweaters in my life." Joe is a legend and I will miss him greatly.

One of my other favorite catchphrases is "Whistle and NOW WHAT??"

Not a Cavs fan but always respected Tait. Especially for all the horrible basketball he saw thoughout his broadcasting career. I remember when Lebrick left and he said that LBJ never talked to him during his time in Cleveland. Was shocked at first to hear that--then considering what a tool James is, I wasn't so surprised.

Joe Tait is one of the best announcers to call the game. It's a shame he doesnt get the type of credit he deserves due to the smaller market.

Heres a pic from the last home game

We had season tickets growing up, if it was an away game or we werent able to go my dad would always turn off the TV sound and turn on the radio to listen to Joe. He is one of the all time greats, 39 years is a long time to do anything. He will be missed.

Heres a little video to the tribute night. You play sports highlights to music from Forrest Gump and I'm sold.

BTW for those who didn't know, for the second half of the Cavs game you'll hear Joe Tait's play by play.

Sad night for me. I grew up listening to joe since at that time...we had no cable. as bad as some of our cleveland teams are....we are truly blessed with great announcers.

It had been awhile since I heard him call a game. I'm glad they decided to play his broadcast for the 2nd half. There were a couple times tonight when Fred almost lost it, AC was pretty emotional as well. Anyways, they are going to have an hour special after the postgame show
