Stanley Cup Playoffs Round 1: Tampa Bay Lightning (5) vs Pittsburgh Penguins (4)

No score after one period. Pittsburgh has got to clear guys from out in front of the net, I'm sure Bylsma will make the adjustment during the intermission. Pens were outshot in that period, need to produce more offense which will be tough because the Tampons have all of a sudden decided to trap, changing their system in game one tells me these fuckers are desperate before the series even started. Pens are delivering some hammering blows and none bigger than Orpik destroying Stamkos early in the game and welcoming him to playoff hockey. MAF as usual has been strong, the rest of the team needs to back him up this period and put a couple in the net!

They are playing the pens, no shit they are going to trap.

    Fleury is ON....sick save.

I see one of the turds is still floating in the toilet.

Still scoreless after two periods. Pittsburgh starting to turn the tide, they decidely out shot the Tampons in that period and the Tampons iced the hell out of the puck, also, Pittsburgh is dominating the faceoffs. The Pens keep playing like this the goals will come.

BTW, how about MAF's save on Lecavalier's great between the legs shot, great sequence in the game.

They HAVE to sign a better deal next time around (contract is up after the season ends). I would think ESPN/ABC will make a decent run for it, but it will get buried behind the NBA most likely. Do they try to go the FOX route? Bush league, but at least everyone gets FOX/FX.

Sadly, at least as of Feb., it's looking like it may stay the same for the next 4 to 7 years, because apparently Gary Bettman is a complete retard. NBC has become dreadful at covering any sport, and we all know Versus is minor league and on no one's cable.

Pens win 3-0! MAF is your #1 star. The Pens took over in the second period and never looked back, dominating performance in just about evey phase of the game. The Tampons will be scratching their heads after this one because they were worn down by a much more physical Pittsburgh squad.

    Awesome!

I really like what Asham brings. That was an underrated injury with so many of the big stars out.

Fleury sure looked like a real "bitch" tonight. He only went for a shutout in the first ever playoff game at CEC. :)
  • killer_ewok
Damn good start for the Pens!
  • GoPens
Pens played their game tonight and as noted, MAF was a beast and a difference maker.

Asham had a great post season for Philly last year, he comes to play in the playoffs and I think that's what Shero was banking on when he signed him.

Great win! If anything, makes my 4-2 series prediction look overly conservative because they were on defensively and scored in a burst to win. Nice way to start the series.

Last night showed how bad Tampa's defense can be at times.

They need to get Lundin more TOI

    Maybe.

They mad a lot of mistakes.

Brewer took the man with the puck on a 3-1 on which is a retarded thing to do.
  • rock_knutne
LOL, the Tampons were playing a trap the entire game until they got down 2-0.

I think the Penguins forecheck had something to do with that and IMO, the Tampons weren't ready for the physical onslaught the Pens threw at them. They were wore out in the third period, icing the puck at will.
